lmao, how very punny. I doubt it would happen, though. Mr. Stream seems to be a bit of a curmudgeonly fundamentalist.
I prefer the term orthodox and catholic (although even that might not be fully accurate), fundamentalist having a decidedly evangelical and pentacostal connotation.. and most people who really know me don't consider me cantankerous.
And i'm quite willing to look at thoroughly vetted research on marijuana. But first of all marijuana is not drug at all, since there are numerous components and collateral aspects to any herbal agent, especially one that is smoked, that are clearly not medicinal.
If one could isolate the active agent from tars and chemicals present in any smoke, that is thc (tetrahydrocannabinol), in a medically controlled dosage, and measure objectively its therapeutic properties, under double blind research protocols, that might be useful research.
But you really can't find anything like that, on a large enough scale to be scientifically convincing. All marijuana research is of the most subjective, anecdotal and emotional character. If you could find something useful, then the method of administering the drug should be by pill or introvenous injection, the least problematic of all methods of delivery.
But that would have medical marijuana proponents howling in complaint. Why because the smoking character of cannabis is integral to pot culture. What's more a thorough regime of presciption regulation and supervision is not what pot smokers want. They want weed issued under year long or unlimited open RXs, with no medical supervision.
They want to get HIGH, because they are scions of 60s weed culture, with the integrated accoutrements of music, political activism, back to nature ideals, anti technological maxims, and ANTI RELIGIOUS sentiments, atleast if they involve any obligations of behaviour or observance.
Hence it is a lifestyle of distraction they crave, not a medicinal remedy.
