The lady in question probably didn't even know she was underage.....by a couple of weeks, fer cryin' out loud!!!!:roll: You see, she IS of legal age in her home province of Quebec.......where the legal age is merely a suggestion anyway.... :)

You really do need to get out more.......

I was truely happy the Captain's statement was more 'Kiss My arse" than contrite.
HAHAHAHAH ain't that a fact

"There are many doctors who think that one drink a day (red wine or something similar) is good for you. "- yep I used to do that, drink a glass of red wine a day. One day I was telling my doctor about it, thinking it would meet with his approval- he just smiled and said "yep and drinking Welsh's grape juice will give you exactly the same benefit"
Sorry to blow a hole in that argument, S.J.

And why would that blow a whole in my argument. JLM? Your doctor told you that drinking grape juice was good for you, he didn't tell you that drinking wine was bad for you. If anything, he seemed to agree that drinking a glass of red wine is good for you.

What is your point here, Bill? This is what she said:

“Of course we are aware that's not the image you want to portray; especially if there's young kids and people watching ... [but] it is a tradition in hockey that when you win they have cigars and usually have champagne in the dressing room."

Clearly she was aware that what happened was wrong. She was aware that millions of teenagers regard them as role models and they must be careful in how they are portrayed to the teenagers.

This from the same website:

“The morning after their stirring gold-medal win over the United States, captain Hayley Wickenheiser and other players found themselves both defending their actions and apologizing for the way they celebrated at the rink.”

So there were apologies by the players for their behavior. One only hopes that they have learned their lesson.

The police have no plans to investigate. Case closed...

Everyone including gold medal athletes, have a right to privacy. The Media should respect this. Instead they exploit people and violate their privacy.

That is how it works with celebrities, they don’t have any privacy. That is the price they pay for fame, glory and riches.

Exactly, Colpy, if you and I were to go to Upper MOngolia, how much time do you think we'd spend reading the local bi laws?

Are you slow at picking up on things- the point of the comment that I got was while he agreed it may be good he also made it clear it was unnecessary.

And how does it contradict with anything I said? I said that one drink a day is good for you, according to some doctors and nutritionists. Anything wrong with that? You are the one who is slow at picking things.

Given that, and that very real fact that it was teaming with reporters, friends and staff. They sought o get out and get a little space.

what you don't seem to get 'IS THE FACT THAT THERE WERE
REPORTERS THERE', very eager to make a story out of this
situation, because had there been 'no' reporters, there
would be no story.

celebrities, teams, and people in these positions must be
aware of 'who' is around when they are doing 'whatever' it
is they are doing.

The media/reporters are the reason this is a story, so had
they stayed in the dressing room, (which has lots of room),
none of this would have happened.

Poor choice by coaches and management of the team.

Of course they would issue an apology, to shut up the prudes...

I think you are beating a dead horse...

The media aren't people, Anna, they are parasites! LOL!:lol:
lol That was Talloolla you were replying to, Hon. Anna's in the kitchen. lol

Someone turned a crater into a mountain here, I think. Perhaps we should get the gov't to concoct a committee to study the issue for a couple decades and then make a report. And give the committee a 2 billion dollar budget so they can do a thorough job of it.
Lemme guess who's been the most prolific poster in this thread...... the pro-nanny state nitpicker of nitpickers. :D

exactly, that is my point, don't give them a reason
at all, they are always drooling and leering waiting
for anything they can 'make' a story from, and this was
a perfect situation for them to jump all over.

Actually, if you read what she said, it was not an apology.

good for her.

I like Christie Blatchford's idea: Have all the women atheletes dress in the gear for their sport, and take pics of them cavorting with booze and cigars. Make it into a calender, and sell it to raise cash for training.

I despise sports.....but I'd buy a dozen.

No, not cart wheels. And I think winning silver isn't a bad deal, but they looked (to me) like someone just ran over their puppy. I think they could have looked a bit more "not so sad" but I'm not a hockey player so maybe I don't take it as seriously as I should. :-|

And just for the record, I ain't no "America basher"...just commenting on a hockey match.

Well anytime an athlete loses a championship game (which is what this was) they are pretty much going to look like that. Boys and girls, men and women... when you lose the big game you aren't happy.

I know you aren't an "American basher" but if the faces of the USA Women's Hockey Team didn't match the faces of the Canadian team you can't call them sore losers.

Out of all the people you guys get to choose athletes from in comparison to us, I think it's pretty good. :) How many hockey teams do you guys have? 24 out of the 30 pro teams? lol

But hardly anyone plays hockey here. Hockey is big in the New England area, around the Great Lakes in states like Minnesota and Michigan. Maybe some parts of New York but that is pretty much it.

And yes, out of the 30 (I guess) NHL Teams, 24 are in US Cities. But who plays on them? Mostly Canadians! lol
