I think what it boils down to it that some people are so insecure, and not sure if they stack up, so any fault they can find in anyone else gives them great pleasure and reassurance of their own superiority (why that would matter, who knows?)
The snob always mistreats people, it is fact, in social circles snobbery is a silent form of bullying. Intelligence or money, doesn’t make a quality person, strong family upbringing solidifies a persons worth as a friendly fellow human being.

if you are talking about political goal posts, the Conservatives don't like goal posts period, they always believe they own the whole field. This is why the polls today Feb 08 2010 reflect the conservative thinking.
Some people write a lot.....Because I type slow, I try to put down the condensed version of what I'm thinking and for that I'm called cryptic:roll::lol::lol:

I had a pretty lap dog named Heidi who became a snob. Heidi bonded with my brother's beautiful sophisticated wealthy girlfriend and became a princess-snob. Heidi lived to be 21 years old before she passed away. That is 147 dog years, so may be being a snob makes you live longer??
We all have at one time or another met a snob before, right? The kind who think they are the crème de la crème of the earth, who look down on others with disdain for no reason? You can deal with such people on various levels. Here are some suggestions
Step 1 PAY THEM NO MIND
Most snobs are ego-maniacs. They thrive on attention. Take it away and they will be like half-naked weaklings, whining away in a cold, violent storm. Snobbery thrives on when there are accomplices.
Step 2 MAKE THEM IRRELEVANT
Another thing a snob dreads is irrelevance. Pompous people seek to be in the middle of everything. They deflate other people's ego with ridicule and tasteless jokes. A good crowd will not go with the theatrics of a snob.
Step 3 ANSWER WITH WIT
If you absolutely have to deal with them, give snobs answers they deserve. Use their own reasoning to thrash them. Make them uncomfortable by exposing their pride with subtle humour.
Step 4
EXPOSE THEIR PRETENTIOUSNESS
Or you can face it headlong and say exactly how you feel. Make it known you do not like that kind of attitude. Stand up for the small guy or girl. Rebuke the snob in the presence of the person he/she just snubbed. Make them regret their obnoxiousness.
Step 5
GANG UP ON THEM
What a snob dreads is a gang of people who are not afraid to expose them. If you have friends who feel the same way, let the snob know how you feel. Shut him/her down by letting them know what they are doing to people. Use ridicule to bring them down to earth. If that changes the attitude, fair enough. If not, it is better to have a party without the stench of snobbery. People have to learn how to treat other people with dignity.
