I'm not sure if it has anything to do with anything constructive, but a lot young people now days, if they are unsure of anything study psychology. How many jobs does that prepare you for? Is it a proven discipline like physics, architecture, medicine or engineering? How much psychology is based on proven facts? Maybe it's nothing more than a distraction from anything real and concrete. What has a psychologist built, repaired or invented?
Probably not a hell of a lot but at least (I think) one of the main endeavours is to get some figures in a book to balance.
