It would still be more socially acceptable to reference God in that tone than say, "Satan, you are such a bitch, as always." Limited to issues that cause physical pain, missing the green light does not qualify as something sent by Satan so no direct blame.

Which god?
Taking someone's name in vain implies to me that you are calling for someone who can't or doesn't hear you.

Those words come out if somebody drops something heavy on your foot, very same words if you stub it that hard yourself.

I read somewhere that that is the most used expletive. I personally have a large list of expletives but usually they escape my mouth without any thought on my part. I don't think we choose which one to use, the situation dictates which one escapes. That's my story and I'm sticking to it Gawsh Darn it!!;-)

Yes, that's no 1, but Jesus H Christ is certainly a close second for me.

And the time-tested **** is not far behind that.

It all depends on the circumstances.

I've never seen mention of Jesus' middle name in the Bible. Is it Harold?

Replace "Satan" with Jesus, Mohamed, Ron Hubbard, Ganesh etc. They are just words, right?

I'm pretty sure it's 'Hussein'.

Oh........When I went to school we used to recite a prayer every morning that started......"Our Father who art in Heaven, Harold be thy name" That's why I figured it must be Harold ...........or Art.:lol:

Depends on the who and where of it. When asked if I wanted 'God Insurance' on my house policy I asked what that included, hail, pretty much anything natural weather related and planes falling out of the sky and landing on the house. I declined saying I didn't think God was going to do that. I then asked if they had 'Satan Insurance'. She didn't even smile.

God may have 'invented 'pain/misfortune' but it is entirely Satan that is the cause for people experiencing either, let alone having them as common facts of life for everybody.

When God of the Bible of Christ are referenced is that a curse for being the 'cause of the pain/whatever went wrong' of is it a plea to 'take away the pain/misfortune'?

With the "F" word included it would seem be a curse.

Truth to tell westmanguy, I don't like to hear that kind of language either, and I'm an atheist. It's just so lame and pointless and unnecessary.

I'm with you on this. Profanity is the mark of an uneducated mind. If you have to rely on it, you must not have much to say.
