Really? Oh. Well...okay...I was wrong with that one then...what can I say. Actually, I dunno...I guess it depends on the person. To me, to say Indian is disrespectful. I guess First Nations person sounds kinda lame...but...I dunno....it seems to me that the term Indian is...not cool...it shows a disrespect for the background of the folks involved...I mean the term indian came about because explorers who came to north america thought they were in India, so started calling the folks Indians...so, it just seems to me to be very derogatory....but...hey, who am I....I'm mitch hedberg...that's right....

I think it might have been neccesary to have been laughed at though. I think if i had started off with "indian" it might have been presumptious.

Reading through this thread I thought, 'ok, no problems here, I don't swear, or offend in the name of the God of someone's religion!' And then I read Kreskin's post! Darn it! Ok, I'm guilty of saying that word, and appologise to anyone who has read that word in any post of mine, who was offended by it.

Gosh! Life is so darned restrictive at times... lol

Let me help you understand.

Taking the lord's name in vain is to scold the lord by referring to him as evil or as the devil. If someone you do not know says goddammit or Jesus Christ, whether derogatory or not, you should always keep your opinions to yourself, forgive and forget. That's just extra stress in your life and you don't know what that person will do. Some things to remember are, that person may not know any better because they were brought up that way, possibly around someone who cursed a lot. These phrases and words are everyday modern language. Everyone has said, "Oh my God" once in a while, nothing wrong with that. We should worry more about bettering ourselves as human beings. Imagine !

What's with people's fascination with bringing ancient threads back to life all of a sudden?:-?

I have no idea, Shadow. Some sentiment I suppose.
Anyway, outside of the occasional "sh|t" or the f-word, I manage to keep swearing down to a minimum. Overuse deflates the impact. :D

Sort of like that South Park episode where the used the word s**t over and over again(the first time they were allowed to do that on the air).;-)

As an off-topic the typo on the thread title is really irksome. I think I am going to change it.:p
