I don't know about that one, but they've found two others affecting brain development and function that are fairly recent, evolutionarily speaking.
One came in around the end of the last ice-age, and people without it have what we call by modern standards "bad tempers", although objective studies show it's just a tenancy to react without thinking first, which is useful when being attacked by animals. The reports say about 25% of modern humans still hold that one.
The other came in about 12-9K years ago, and has something to do with enabling people to be easier-minded about living in groups larger than a tribe. In this case it's about 32% of the modern population still feeling the old way.
Both together, it's about one in twelve whom modern city dwellers would classify as a violent, natural country-boy.
When it comes to finding out what an enemy is doing when it has the
ability to hurt the homeland you use what ever it takes to get the job done.
Ironic in terms of the concept of "International Law"... isn't it?
International Law is applied only when both sides save money, and it should be called treaties.
A famous example is the Soviet/NORAD treaty saying that neither will plant nuclear missiles on the ocean floor.
Both sides joyfully signed it, else they'd have to spend the money doing such a thing just to be sure.
Why planet ICBMs on the ocean floor when you can have big giant mobile missile-launching platforms in the form of nuclear submarines?
By the way, and I know this is a total aside and off topic etc., but did you know that at the end of the cold war, Soviet internal organization had broken down so bad that Gorbachev's talk about how they had better control over nukes than the US was a bizarre Russian way of saying they had control of *one* they could point-and-shoot... which was enough.

Notice the green-belt to the east. That's real Pakistan. Notice how it's border-of-authority extends way west over a mountain range.

In that eastern green-belt are their moderns... super-hip and not hung up about whether or not women wear head-dress.
West of it is a place that politico-geographically should be with Afghanistan. It's a bunch of dry-land Islamic hillbilly's singing halleluiah-death-as-a-retarded-warrior-is-glorious (only if you never had kids before being killed) along with the Taliban.
East Pakistani's *hate* being in charge of those hillbillies west of the divide. It should never have been given to them. It should have been part of Afghanistan all along.
Green-belt eastern-Pakistan wants to shed responsibility over that wasteland west of the divide, but of course being political must do their job in the UN and ask for something in exchange, whereupon Uncle Sam says something like how if Pakistan is willing to surrender territory and be as modern as she is then she gets bumped up to first-world trade status in competition with India over who can thrill consumers the most, combined with agents sent out to tell the Taliban they just got more territory, such that they think their territory has expanded, combined with ...

Hmm ... this is when Iran gets involved, and if there could be a sane state of government in Iran - for Iranians are a fundamental one-of-a-kind people with a strength about equal to France if it gets nukes - then with them having good government we back off as Iran expands a natural sphere of influence over the territories of the old Persian empire, and they get the problem of Taliban... sort of like how France has to deal with north Africa. If you want to trade with Iran what they are hungry for is good lamb, and they can trade back the best carpets.
