BC would have a chance if the public cared about the pipeline. There's nothing in the papers about it. The only recent thing was that small protest. 20 or 25 people and they were easily dealt with.

BC just doesn't care, but like the premier said, the pipeline will be a healthy revenue stream.

The Liberals are preparing a writ to ensure there are no legal troubles. But given the general lack of concern, they are not expecting to use it.

Washington state is 'allied' with B.C. on Trans Mountain pipeline: governor

VANCOUVER — The governor of Washington says his state is “allied” with British Columbia in questioning whether the Trans Mountain pipeline should be expanded.
The project poses a threat to waters off the West Coast, which Washington residents view as a treasure, and the state is looking at marine safety laws that would help mitigate the impact of a tanker spill, Gov. Jay Inslee said Friday at a meeting with B.C. Premier John Horgan and officials from Oregon and California.
“We are hopeful that the premier’s efforts to allow the voices of his citizens to be listened to will be successful, because it is very much in common with our citizens,” Inslee said, adding that residents in his state recently rejected proposals for both coal and oil ports.
Inslee commended British Columbia for leadership on climate protection. But he said Trans Mountain may be a federal policy that “shoots Canada in the foot” and reverses some of the work the province has done.

Nice try Cliffy. This is the Washington governor commenting about BC. You see, when Waldo posts things, as he and you and OB have been constantly reminded, use a cite.

I'll tell you what I tell Waldo. Proof of your statements is a good idea.

Here's your chance to find something that says more than what I posted. In your article, and I quote,

“The project was also approved by the previous B.C. government and we think the project should go ahead. B.C. is asking the courts to determine if it has jurisdiction to limit how much diluted bitumen can flow through pipelines in the province."

It's legal and there is no fight. Prove your point. Post something that says citizens groups will fight this, or similar. Until you do, it's just so many useless words.

Former Trans Mountain environmental engineer arrested blocking Kinder Morgan construction

“We lived and worked in fear when I worked for Trans Mountain, because the reality is that no amount of equipment or people is going to change the fact that in the event of a spill, they will be able to recover very little.”

20 March 2018, Unceded Coast Salish Territories (Vancouver) — A former environmental engineer for Trans Mountain has been arrested with a group of students and youth at the gates of Kinder Morgan’s Burnaby Mountain tank farm.
Romilly Cavanaugh, former Trans Mountain environmental engineer arrested today:
“I worked for Trans Mountain’s environmental department in the 1990s. If there is a tanker spill or spill from the pipeline itself, from Edmonton to Vancouver and down to Washington, the best Trans Mountain will be able to do, even today, is between 10 and 20% recovery.
The rest will remain in the environment, damaging fish, birds, crabs – everything you can imagine. We lived and worked in fear when I worked for Trans Mountain, because the reality is that no amount of equipment or people is going to change the fact that in the event of a spill, they will be able to recover very little.”

Now you're getting it, but I'm going t help you, and hopefully drive the point home. It should be a learning exercise for you and the others that fail to do this. I cast the bait, but no one took it.

I said,

"BC would have a chance if the public cared about the pipeline. There's nothing in the papers about it. The only recent thing was that small protest. 20 or 25 people and they were easily dealt with."

You should have countered with the following, but didn't. And Waldo? He rarely bothers proving anything he posts. As we've seen in several of his posts, he even lies.

Hopefully, you get the point.

Thousands march in B.C. to protest Trans Mountain pipeline expansion

Many protesters carried signs that read, “Water is life,” “No consent, no pipeline,” and “Keep it in the ground.”

BURNABY, B.C.—Thousands of demonstrators marched Saturday to speak out against a pipeline expansion project that would nearly triple the flow of oil from Canada’s tarsands to the Pacific Coast.

Indigenous leaders led the march in the Vancouver suburb of Burnaby after telling the crowd that the day’s event was a celebration of unity, but they should be prepared in the future to “cross the line” with potential arrests.

This is why people give you grief about cutting and pasting from Facebook or other sources. For most discussions, make your point using words. That's why they call it a discussion board. Sometimes, points can be made using pictures, but you should only add them after ensuring that your meaning is clearly understood.

Imagine an NDP premier and a handful of Green MLA's doing what their constituents elected them to do.

We didn't elect them.

This is all about Horgan keeping power.

The greediest man in BC is a Dipper.

Recall can start in November.

I said there is wide spread public opposition to the pipeline.

And of course you are wrong. The vast majority of BCers are in favor of the pipelines.

Washington may be allied with our current premier but most certainly not with the citizens.

There are two refineries in British Columbia with a combined refining capacity of 67,000 b/d.[13] Those refineries utilize domestically produced crude that travels from Edmonton to Vancouver via Kinder Morgan’s 300,000 b/d Trans Mountain pipeline.[14] The only petroleum pipeline that crosses the Rocky Mountains, the Trans Mountain is also the only North American line capable of moving both crude and refined product. Edmonton refiners supply 50 to 60 percent of product consumed in the greater Vancouver, B.C. market with the remainder sourced from the 55,000 b/d Burnaby refinery in Vancouver.[15] Washington's refineries provide the marginal refined product after refiners in British Columbia and Alberta, acting as a supply cushion to cover shut-in capacity or demand fluctuations. Canada is a net exporter of refined product with 92 percent of those exports consumed in the U.S.[13]

Oh Look! Another asshole came out to play. Unfortunately, I don't play with assholes. You can crawl back under your rock now.

Cliffy- there's 3 or 4 good reasons why we want the pipeline vs. a few assholes in Burnaby who don't want it, getting in the way of working people . Who do you want to support, the workers or the Assholes? WE NEED OIL and for at least another 100 years by which time you and I will probably be dead.

We didn't elect them.

What really pisses me off is 3 Greens have more clout than 44 Liberals. Who sanctioned that f**ked up distribution? Horgan doesn't need encouragement from any more Assholes! Don't get me wrong, I'm not against being environmentally responsible, but it has to go hand in hand with sensible resource extraction and the ability to put bread on the table and pay the mortgage.
