Eventually, some drunken BC captain will run ashore and you'll find out really fast what the effects are.

Why wait, unless of course you're just waiting for happy hour to start

These ships can simply be towed out of the environment.

we couldn't even tow a sinking tug boat out of Bella Bella this winter.

a sinking tug boat was beyond the capability of BC to handle and eveeyone in the maritime industry knows it.

It is stunningly gorgeous in Nakusp all year round and we get to avoid all the insanity of big cities and most of the political stupidity.

That will change ,just wait till we get that RV Resortand Marina built . We are then planning a hotel and multiple condo developments . There are many people in the lower mainland that want to leave the rats race and move to more peaceful locals . Soon you will be looking like Sicamous .

Re the "trade war" between Alberta and BC...

Why no trade war over energy east?

Lots of other provinces told Alberta to shove it?
Quebec mostly. And isn't that interesting? Trudeau is willing to run roughshod over BC to get our oil to China but firmly agrees with Quebec's anti-pipeline stance and won't force a pipeline flowing east to get us off that mid-east garbage that, when you factor in ALL factors, is far more carbon intensive than ours is.

Kind of funny how Trudeau is so anxious to get our "horribly carbon intensive" oil to a fascist state while at the same time refuses to do anything to get us off oil that comes from fascist theocracies in the Middle East where there's a near perpetual state of twilight war going on.

Never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but I think BC needs to step aside on this matter.

Sounds to me like Trudeau thinks Trump is going to walk away from NAFTA.

And if that happens, Canada will be left scrambling for new trade partners. Looks like Trudeau is pushing for this in an attempt to get ahead of the 8-ball before Trump pulls the plug.

He's pushing to try to gain new revenue streams into Canada before the shoe drops.

Smart move, in my opinion.

Canada needs to cut the ties that bind us to such dependency on US trade agreements... that country is too damn unstable these days to be trusted with any kind of economic partnership.

We need to protect the economy of our own country first and foremost.

For any trade deal to happen with China, they have to be able to get their Oil, and Trudeau is on the clock to make this happen.

Hwy 3 from Alberta is motorhome friendly.
Yes , that is part of the benefit . The American convoys will be able to swing down on their way home from Alaska .The new mall going up on the Farquhar side should be a sight to behold Walmart and Cabella’s are set to be the anchor tenants .

Husky won't wait forever.
Isn’t Husky an Alberta Company ?

In case you were wondering about Kinder Morgan pipeline failures, here are a few recent ones...

"July 15, 2005: 210,000 litres (1,320 barrels) of crude oil were leaked at the Sumas Tank Farm operated by Kinder Morgan ,
June 4, 2007: 69,950 litres (440 barrels) of crude oil were spilled at former Wahleach pump station, and reports indicate that the Kinder Morgan pipeline may have been leaking for weeks beforehand,
July 24, 2007: 250,000 litres (1,500 barrels) of crude oil spilled out of the pipeline in Burnaby, BC. The crude oil flowed through neighbourhood storm sewers and ditches before entering and contaminating a large portion of Burrard Inlet,
May 6, 2009: An estimated 200,000 litres (1,260 barrels) of crude oil leaked from Kinder Morgan’s oil storage facility in Burnaby, BC,
January 24, 2012: An estimated 110,000,000 litres (691,880 barrels) of crude oil leaked from Kinder Morgan’s oil storage facility on Sumas Mountain in Abbotsford,
November 9, 2004: Five people were killed, and four were injured in an explosion that occurred when an excavator hit a Kinder Morgan gas pipeline in Walnut Creek, California (SFGate). Kinder Morgan had failed to properly mark the pipeline’s location, and the excavator operator had been given an inaccurate map ,
November 21, 2004: A storm caused a 14-inch diameter pipeline in Sacramento California to erupt, causing an 80-foot geyser of oil to shoot into the air. The leak was not discovered until the next morning, and the nearby highway was closed, followed by Kinder Morgan’s multi-day clean-up response,"

Good sensible post, Cliffy. Continue in that vein and I doubt if you'll get criticism from Murphy. :)
Do you really think I give a shit about what Smurphy thinks. The clown is a major league asshole.

Poor Smurphy, he thinks he is some kinda shrink wannabe but he is really only able to see through the veil of his own self image. He is what he perceives others to be.

THree that you got wrong. Fact: we need the oil exports. Fact: There are thousands of good paying careers at stake here. Fact: There is no danger to fishing jobs.

The money being offered to BC is not even close to being worth the risk.

Cliffy's silly meme is just another example of needing to be contrary at the expense of the facts. I wonder if he is senile?

Hoid is a younger version of him. Before, he was arguing (unsuccessfully) that BC would have a say in the pipeline. Now, he's suggesting that the money being offered BC isn't enough. Which is it? Confused much?

If BC could stop the pipeline, there would be no money, Flossy.

He has finally realized that BC cannot stop the pipeline. The interested parties have spoken. He's talking, just to hear the noise.

Does anyone in BC care about the Atlantic?

On our eastern coasts, transport Canada data shows that more than 1.6 million barrels of petroleum is safely moved from 23 Atlantic Canada ports each day. Another 500,000 barrels per day moves up the St. Lawrence to Montreal and other Quebec ports. Overall, Eastern Canada’s ports berth some 4,000 inbound petroleum tankers each year without any major incidents.
