Why reroute a hose and miss the opportunity to post the message loud and clear - and you know the owner's going to get it if he wants to go before the fire department
Because then they don't get to laugh whilw smashing the windows on a BMW.In the video, it seems like a directional adapter on the hydrant......
Why not use one of the side outlets and go around the car???
Besides that as an ex-military man you can't afford the hood ornament let alone the car it's attached to. ;-)
Now for the actual story. I think they could have easily run the hose over the roof or hood or under the car. They could have hooked the vehicle to a fire truck and pulled it 5 feet out of the way. What they did was legal but not necessarily justified and someone probably thought it was funny to smash both windows in order to teach a lesson which in my books deserves more than a little contempt. The unfortunate part is nobody will even get a talking to over this so the message is sent to all firefighters that it is just fine to damage personal property even if they don't really have to.
Those firemen; heroes or jerks probably caused ten to fifteen thousand dollars damage to that car, and it wasn't neccessary. Running the hose over the hood was probably the easiest way but they were looking for the most dramatic way for the TV news.

That would be the smart thing but we are talking about Bostonians here....;-)I have a simple solution... don't park in front of the fire hydrant and you don't get a hose run through your car.

All wonderful advice. Do you have any advice for firemen who would smash the car windows and put large dents in the car doors and fender when it wasn't needed.?:smile:I have a simple solution... don't park in front of the fire hydrant and you don't get a hose run through your car.
Exactly Wolf.
I am old, slow and not to quick in my elder years. My apologies.I don't understand how this only got on this forum today. CNN has had wall to wall coverage of this fire-hose window break trauma for 47 hours. Boy are you guys out of touch.
Pretty rough ?? Must be the Irish neighborhood. ?

I guess none of you morons yapping about straight hose happened to notice the kinks between the hydrant and the car, kind of puts that theory in the dark what

That is a sixinch hose. The side outlete are normally only 21/2 inch.
Besides anyone that parks a beemer in front of a hydrant doesn't deserve any consideration.
