Loads of people like Jimmy Carter but still don't approve of his presidency. I'm condervative and like the guy but don't think he did a very spectacular job.

No job , no money , no money , no funny . Yes American government spending is out of control , and has been for a long time . Healthcare is an issue , but the majority of Americans have excellent coverage through their employers . Those people do not have the same waiting period that our universal system has . For them there is no incentive to change ..
As for education I believe it is a states issue . And from my readings in the gun control thread crime rates are down in the States .

It's one reason why American buying power isn't the greatest in spite of the economy. Their buying power has hardly budged since the 70s (adjust for inflation et al). That's why a lot of folks now are double income families in spite of the fact that families are nowhere near as large as they used to be.
