Alberta, which perpetually elects Conservative governments. Religious right is very strong in Alberta, making it comparable to Bible Belt states such as Mississippi or Alabama.

Which Alberta are you talking about? I live here and the religious right is no more powerful than the loony left. You shouldn't listen to all the propaganda.

And as far as all the right/left nonsense, Alberta is pretty much middle of the road. After all, the Klein liberals kept getting reelected.

As a Bible thumping right-wing redneck, I can only hope that comment wasn't directed at me.

Excuse me for not going back and reading every post in this thread, but hasn't this all been done before? Try Googling the Western Canada Concept, the Separation Party of Alberta, and the Alberta Independence Party. And then, of course, there has always been the continual "blame the feds rhetoric" of various Alberta premiers in an attempt to win votes from the members of the unenlightened right.

That's what politics is all about - "sawing sawdust"!

Well if the 3 western provinces seperated the rest east of Manitoba would prolly have to join the usa to survive.
Manitoba would form their own country, not sure what they would call it.

Just what we need more division to unite us. I would not enter into the thought
process of this. This country has had about as much as we can take with the
poisoned atmosphere of the Bloc. Just when Quebecers decide to opt in and
vote for a Federalist Party others want to establish a divisive party in the West.
I know separation is not on the table, but the idea that we care only about the
West is not good for the country as a whole.
Some are saying the NDP is not the party Quebecers should have gone with.
Fist of all we should be happy they dumped the Bloc and the Separatists.
Secondly they are not going to support the Federal Liberals, the party that brought
them disgrace with the last scandal that broke the back of that party.
Conservatives? Not likely, this crop of Tories is hell bent on gutting the social network
that is treasured by the people of Quebec. That wasn't an option, so who else is there?
Hopefully the Block will be laid to rest in the pages of history so we don't need the rise
of such a movement in the West. Sorry Ron can't agree on this one.

.........Jeez Ron. I thought you were having a block party, and I was really pissed cause I wasn't invited.

Now I see it was in 2008, and the party still hasn't happened. Someone not pick up the beer and weenies?

We had one here a year ago. Cops all over the place.:blob:
