Obama Rejects Obamaism

When the president said the unemployed couldn’t wait 14 more months for help and we had to do something right away, I believed him. When administration officials called around saying that the possibility of a double-dip recession was horrifyingly real and that it would be irresponsible not to come up with a package that could pass right away, I believed them.
I liked Obama’s payroll tax cut ideas and urged Republicans to play along. But of course I’m a sap. When the president unveiled the second half of his stimulus it became clear that this package has nothing to do with helping people right away or averting a double dip. This is a campaign marker, not a jobs bill.

Obama sparks middle-of-road rage

The moderate elite isn’t, by definition, an angry bunch, but President Barack Obama’s pivot from calibrated centrism to soak-the-rich liberal populism has tapped a vein of middle-of-the-road rage and centrist angst.
Over the past two weeks, Obama has convincingly channeled FDR, winning over suspicious liberals, even if many suspect he will eventually return to his old, compromising ways.

Yet to a small, but influential cadre of moderates, it’s political apostasy — an Obama-led return to the bad old days of the 1970s and 1980s, when tax-hiking liberals drove the Democratic Party to the powerless margins of politics.
And to some higher-minded moderates, led by New York Times columnist David Brooks, Obama is sacrificing his 2008 vision of a post-partisan presidency and purple national map on the altar of Democratic base politics.

The way things are going in Washington, the Israeli's and Palestinians might need to broker peace accords between Republicans and Democrats.

LOL. and they still charge 4.50 for the New Yorker. ( ya gotta love this crap ) How can anyone take these bozos seriously?? why is it that when folks screw up big time and we get into some major shyte economy wise, too many stupid wars by so called progressive nations ....that the "Near enders" all crawl out of the woodwork with their doom and gloom message ......just to add an even more irrational bent onto a reality that is struggling with being reasonable.

The way things are going in Washington, the Israeli's and Palestinians might need to broker peace accords between Republicans and Democrats.

LOL........after they broker some sensibility between themselves . But you could have a point there. It would be very interesting to see america's reaction when an outside nation tries to bring cooperation and peace to the divisiveness of the US political parties. We all know what would happen. Ya see, it is only the US in its self appointed & entitled role that can go around brokering relationships around the world ........and make sure these relationships render benefits to the US.

Seriously , does anyone remember the two parties being this far apart on just about everything?? (except war of course. ) The way they bicker , they could launch their own Soap opera , using the reality of what goes on . No acting experience nec.

Seeing as Reality TV is all the rage now........they could just turn on the cameras, run a feed to each Media station and behave as they usually do.

The end is near for Harper too. From recent news it would seem that he has his nose really close to someone's ass.

Man people are stupid....you can't change the past, so quit spending on your credit card and get another job when you can't afford your bills. Or, cut program spending and increase revenues from taxes if you're a government.

That would be using common sense Ton.

You're probably right.
