Exactly. As a business owner, if my gross profits are taxed more I'm making less money and can't expand to hire more people and fewer can afford my goods or services because their gross has been reduced too. With more net income I can expand, invest and hire more people.

Working people use far less social programs than those not working. The more that work the lower the social costs.

Tonnington. What do the Danish get for their tax dollar in comparison to the others listed?

Ask the Danish, and if you don't get the answers you're looking for try a donut. The point is that the US could raise their rates and still be OK, they just need to get their house in order. If what you're saying is true, there would have been no tremendous growth in employment after Clinton raised taxes. More jobs were created after Clinton raised taxes, than after GW Bush lowered them. It's not at all as simple as you are stating.

Bush Sr lowered taxes? What planet did you live in on the late 80's early 90s?

Maybe you'd better find out what the bang for the buck is for the taxes someone pays.

Whatever you do, keep working on a payroll for someone else because you'd kill your own company in a matter of months and NEVER run for govt of any type.

Bush Sr is now GW Bush? What planet do you live on now?

Slow down old timer, you're missing important details.

He has it right, Bush Sr. (G.H.W.) was at the helm from '89- 93.
We some how went from Reagan skipping Bush Sr (who raised taxes) straight to Clinton who lowered taxes on the bottom end taxpayers and small business in 93 and instituted massive cuts to the deficit which skyrocketed under Reagan and Bush Sr.

Now lets look at which Provinces are on the teat and compare them to the rate of taxation.

Quebec ($7.815 billion)
Ontario ($2.200 billion)
Manitoba ($1.666 billion)
New Brunswick ($1.483 billion)
Nova Scotia ($1.167 billion)
Prince Edward Island ($329 million)
The following provinces will not qualify for equalization payments in 2011-2012:
  • Alberta
  • Saskatchewan
  • Newfoundland and Labrador
  • British Columbia

So, you are saying Newfy doesn't receive equalization payments???????? I knew their economy was doing a lot better but it's a pleasant surprise that they are a contributor. Ontario has sure taken a dive in the past few years!

You guys really need to learn to read properly. I said GW Bush lowered taxes. That's true. Petros jumped the gun somehow interpreting GW Bush as Bush Sr, and JLM you happily followed him into that pile of crap.

Up until that point the only Presidents I had mentioned were Reagan and Clinton.

I am suddenly remembering why I spend so little of my time here these days. Fools (even old fools) who can't even show basic reading comprehension aren't worth my time.

Why not just admit you ****ed up about increased taxation being a stimulator of the economy?

I never said that. I said that Reagan and Clinton increased taxes during recessions, and jobs were created afterwards. I never said that increasing taxes leads to more jobs, just that your simplistic statement about raising taxes was simply not borne out by reality. Is that too subtle for you to grasp?

Comprehension fail number...well I lost count with you Petros.
