You may be right, petros, it may be only the nutjobs who make it on the news. All the same, that is indeed the impression of Alberta in Ontario and Quebec, that it represents the Bible Belt of Canada, similar to Alabama, Mississippi or Texas in USA.

Alberta was also the last province to legalize gay marriage, it was dragged kicking and screaming into doing so.

Death penalty – I have already posted a poll about death penalty showing that support for death penalty is the highest in Alberta.

Abortion – I remember seeing polls which show that opposition for abortion is the highest in Alberta.

The only prominent Fundamentalist politician is Stockwell day, who is from Alberta. Now, a leader like that does not arise in a vacuum, there has to be plenty of activists, plenty of supporters for a leader to arise.

Taken it all together, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Alberta is indeed the Bible Belt of Canada.

Why would the stats be worth digging up? Who cares! For so many people who claim to dislike religion you sure are spending a lot of time trying to figure it out.

If an Evangelical isn't looking or playing the bigger than life role then he or she isn't doing what they do best will fail financially because of attrition.

To be honest when I think bible belt I look at Ontario Amish.

They make the Hutterrites or Mennonites out here look like Liberals.

My threads (the few I do) are hi-jacked all the time. People get off topic everywhere on every thread. I'd rather forget about the pooping posies thank you very much and by the way - I was not the first hi-jacker anyway. Did you bug Avro or is it just me you like to bug? :roll:

"The talk about building firewall around Alberta reverberated all over Canada."- That's probably why it reverberated, it was only "talk" - if it was typical it wouldn't have made the news.
