You act like the Fuel Truck incident is a new story.

Fact...the fuel trucks were hijacked by insurgents, tracked and then bombed. Civillians were certainly killed near the fuel trucks during the airstrikes. Not a new story. We already had a thread on this.

What's new is that we now know what the US military knew and when. Which doesn't correspond very closely with their statements at the time. Its called getting caught in a lie. This is only one example where it appears military personnel were either criminally negligent or committed a war crime and then deliberately lied about it.

As far as I know, no one was ever held accountable for what was either a criminally negligent mistake or a deliberate war crime (I can't see how anyone could come to any other conclusions) which resulted in the slaughter of 56 innocent civilians.

When I read some of these reports it become pretty clear to me why Afghan civilians have become increasingly hostile toward the foreign occupation forces. If someone bombed my wedding or killed my friends and relatives with impunity, I'd be pissed too.

No they didn't, they reported it in real time. As new intel became available, it was made available to the public.

I just read the summary. A German Commander called in the air strike which was conducted by a US F-15 and insurgents and civillians were killed.

Like I said...no new revelations.

I remember that well - He screwed up - also remember this occurred after the Germans had their rules of engagement changed - prior to that they could not even fire on Taliban if they were walking down the same road together - they could not report any sighting of Taliban to other Countries -

Then this happened and the commander was relieved of his command.

I heard this this morning when i was in the states. My initial reaction was good. If it exposes the governments U.S. and Pakistans involvement then some thing can be done to correct this. Now I wonder if that was not the whole intent of this ordeal. To put doubt in the interactions with Pakistan. If this wasn't purposely leaked in the first plce with higher consent.
This could also be a symptomn in reaction to what's going on in Afgahnistan. Having the U.S. general stepping down because he voiced concerns of how bad this war is going and now this.

now I don't know what to make of it.

I like snakes Goober, they're actually kind of neat. We have a Red Rat Snake as a pet. I actually have more respect for that snake then I do for JBeee though. At least our snake has the guts to physically bite the hand that feeds it.

We, the West and Americans in particular, think were able to force our opinions/beliefs on other cultures (remember Nazi Germany?) and rob them of thier resources while doing so and expect them to sit still. When they resist and fight back (as would be expected), we as THe pathetic, ignorant and indifferent culture we`ve become, are shocked, even perplexed.

Yes, 9/11 was a wake up call, thankfully. And thankfully as well we have this medium to `speak our minds` on why it happened, given the muffled media corps. we rely on today for information before and since.
