No ! not kidding. When they changed the flag,my father put up a plain white flag.People would ask, what's with the white flag Charlie, and he would reply."I'm waiting for a duck to put a footprint on it" Struck me funny at the time.
If we'er going to going to do one do it all,I want the old anthem back.the one we sang in school.

I like your dad.

Her Majesty’s Conservative Government has confirmed that, as of Wednesday next, Canada Post will officially be called “The Royal Mail” just as it was when the Union Jack flew proudly over this Dominion. A spokesman from the PMO said this change has been long overdue and is a tribute to the proud postmen of the past who waged battle with the elements here and acrossthe Empire.

Members of the IODE and the Orange Lodges have lobbied successfully for this change. “Those who don’t like this can go back to France or Russia or whatever foreign country they came from!” has been the rallying cry of patriots who have praised the Governmentfor its backward vision on this and similar issues.

Rumours abound here in Bytown that the Government is planning legislation to return the Canadian National Railway to its earlier name - the Intercolonial Railroad.

Are you being purposely obtuse for sh!ts and giggles? Or do really not understand the context?

There are lots of emotions when one holds the flag of their country, I've been
surprised by that many times. Even tears in my eyes that I didn't know would happen, and pride
of my country that I didn't realize was that deep inside of me, and the realization of the freedom
we hold so dear to our hearts, and the thoughts of my grandparents who came here and made it possible
for me to be born here, all of those feelings came rushing when I held the flag and celebrated.

Billions have died since the dawn of humanity over symbols: political. national, religious symbols. Perhaps it is time to abandon such symbols as they only seem to cause death and destruction.

Northern Ontario,
For some...a handshake is as binding as a written contract...for others principles is something you pay lip service to...and only when it doesn't inconvenience them too much..
What is realy rare is someone willing to give his life for a principle...
And I'm not talking about the brainwashed fools blowing themselves up for 72 virgins...

Usually someone willing to give their life for a principle or symbol is also willing to take a few other lives with them.

Sorry but that was a miss translation. It is not 72 virgins but a 72 year old virgin. LOL

What does it symbolize?

maybe we can start very slowly, it symbolizes what country it represents, then we can
move on to something else. chew on that first.

it shows others all round the world what country a canadian represents when they travel
with the flag showing on luggage etc.

if one comes down with memory loss while in lower slobovia, but you happen to have a maple
leaf symbol showing, it tells others where to send you. etc etc

it sorts out all nationalities, by recognizing your flag from other flags, you can remember
you are a canadian, da.

we are an independent country, and are allowed to have our own flag.

its a neat thing for kids to draw in school, nice basic red and white, easy picture to copy.

we would be lost without it, floating without a statement, and easy prey for others to seize us for
their own, how would you like the stars and stripes on your luggage.

sheesh.
