This guy is totally Nicholas Brody. I can't wait for the thrilling cat and mouse game followed by directionless confusion and the tragic petering out of a once compelling drama.

Ouch, Colpy. That's gotta sting.

LOL!!

I consider it a privilege to be acknowleged by the Beav as even crazier than he........

Greatness is thrust upon some of us.

If the evidence supports a trial it will come out. You are prepared to wait for the information are you not?

Funny part is, if we pulled out of F*ckupistan without getting him back, the right wing'd be all in a fury bout how Obama "abandoned this fine, heroic American soldier, and the left wing'd be saying he's a traitor and a deserter who doesn't deserve to be brought home.

Absolutely! That is how justice works........

I am also willing to develop an opinion before said trial, as there is ZERO chance I will be on any jury............

My opinion is the guy has earned a blindfold and six bullets.

I do realize opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one.

The reports so far do lead in that direction. But if the evidence is there a trial will be held. This cannot be covered up. Far to many people would leak the documents.
Now if he is found to be mentally unfit, there he goes?

Pulled directly from the White House transcripts of that press conference in the link provided.

The Taliban got exactly what they wanted. They've been trying to get them for years. On NPR they just had a piece about it.

I understood that from your first post on the matter.

Given this is an internet board, not a court of law, burden of proof is somewhat less. Given the choice between Eagle and his proof by "unnamed reporter" at a WhiteHouse press conference and yourself who have offered no proof, I will take Eagle any day. Unless of course you have knowledge or proof as to what was initially demanded from a more reliable source. If you do, please offer it up.
Something that can be more convincing than proof is to keep you assertions moderate, non polarizing, and believable.

When a soldier voluntarily disarms himself, abandons his post in a combat theater during wartime, ends up playing badminton with the enemy, and is not listed as a POW by the US Army that person has stopped being a US soldier. When that happens he is no longer your "man" and all obligations to him are discharged.

We know Bergdahl wasn't captured by the Taliban. We know he voluntarily left his post. We know he abandoned his weapons and could no longer defend himself. This is a case of being AWOL at the least. It may be a case of desertion. Or it may be a case of defection.

If he is no longer a member of the service and is has effectively discharged - then I guess no charges will be laid against him then…right. I don't see the powers that be coming to that determination.

My opinion is the guy has earned a blindfold and six bullets.

I don't see that happening either. He may get jail time, that would surprise me. An execution, doubt it. Even if he does that particular method is off the table.

I refuse to be distracted..... :)

From those radical right wing Tea Party types at the New York Times:......................

"Rear Adm. John F. Kirby, the Pentagon spokesman, said that there was a larger matter at play: The American military does not leave soldiers behind. “When you’re in the Navy, and you go overboard, it doesn’t matter if you were pushed, fell or jumped,” he said. “We’re going to turn the ship around and pick you up.”"

I'll say it again. The exact same republican strategists who beat this exact drum to this day when it comes to Benghazi are now arranging press conferences trying to support the exact opposite opinion in regards to this case.

There is absolutely no reason this should be a political issue. The military promises every member that they will leave no soldier behind. Period. As commander in Chief, you can't just ignore that promise because you think it may not be politically beneficial. What happens to him once he comes back to the US is a matter for the military courts.

Sometimes it is hard to believe that the people here are actually older than the average message board.

Chronological discrimination is forbidden here. You don't like old people do you? Well fock you, you green piece of liberal cheeze. It's hard for some of us to believe you shave and if that is the case I don't know how you would have gotten by the moderator sieve. If you're under thirty your mind is littered with fadistic nonsence, guitar riffs, buzz words and heavey metals and public school drivel, flag waving ijit, CO2 freak.

LOL!!

I have been training for six months straight for the upcoming village idiot regionals, if I'm lucky enough to beat you this year, the booze is on me.

The right complains about everything and anything he does. It wasn't like he exchanged arms for hostages like their hero Reagan did. Instead he sent back a bunch of washed up meatballs. Big frickin deal.

Oh Good Lord no! They haven't executed a soldier for desertion since 1945, and that unfortunate was the only one executed for desertion since the Civil War. (I looked it up)

What he has earned, and what he gets are two different things.

This is all right out of the Republican playbook. Smear the veteran for good old political games.

That's right out of the Democrat playbook. Say anything and their sheep will believe it.

But just a minute....is it still a smear when it is the TRUTH????

The guy deserted. Full stop. Every available soldier in his unit that has spoken has said he deserted.

They should know.

The only question now is whether he volunteered to aid the Taliban in their military campaign.

Well, at least everyone that the Republican strategists can pull in front of a camera.

This is not how truth is determined.

The truth will come out in time. All you are doing is playing into a political game.
