Business groups say the increase comes too quickly for some companies to absorb the added costs and will mean some will have to lay workers off or close entirely.

But a group of 50 Canadian economists recently signed a letter in support of a $15 an hour minimum wage, saying the idea that it will kill jobs, raise prices and cause businesses to flee Ontario is fear mongering that is out of line with the latest economic research.

They can afford it.

They just want more short term profit, which is actually harmful to their own business.

To avoid extra hassle and expense of frequent turnovers?

Not according to Mental Floss. In his mind, engineers are always paid minimum wage.

They can afford it.

So they pay higher than minimum for short term profit. If it hurts their business to pay higher than minimum, why do they do it then?

That would be the 50 economists working for various left wing propaganda sheets that are currently getting minimum wage.

I wonder how many among those who support raising the minimum wage would supporthis:

If that is true, then how do we explain employers offering higher than the minimum wage? Supply and demand maybe?

Read up on this. It is a theory proposed almost 200 years ago and it has pretty much held for the average worker. It is predicated on the fact that for most of history the labour supply is usually greater than the demand for labour. Certainly, certain skilled professions may demand higher wages in the short run; but in the main, wages tend to be pushed down in a free market. Iron law of wages

And you have a passion for irrelevant comments that have no bearing on the issue. I note you couldn't refute my post or the link.
