You can't suck and blow at the same time, Nick. You've made it clear that you are a Union supporter and yet the Union fat cats do the same thing with the money they take from the employees they pretend to support. I don't support 3 martini lunches either and I know a certain amount of it goes on but what percentage of Gov't. spending goes to that?

I don't recall ever saying I support unions. They have a place in some regards but usually I am not a big fan.

Who knows how much of the budget is wasted on lunches and dinners and fact-finding junkets but its a good place to start cutting. There is much waste in many govt programs that could be let go. I believe that the govt's only responsibility is to provide essential infrastructure and services, the rest is up to individual communities and people.

I guess you skipped the first link (was it on purpose?), it's Tea Partiers marching through the streets to support Joe Miller's senate bid in Alaska. The second link is a health care protester, fair enough.... But, in case your Googling skills are actually that lame, here's some others:
Yes, I did miss it actually. Just as well though, as again....not a tea party event.

Should I check these three latest links with oh-so-legitimately tea-party looking titles, or will I be wasting my time again?

Yep, I suggested months ago cutting the $25 breakfasts M.P.s and other bureaucrats are entitled to while travelling.

Adam Carolla explains the OWS Generation

Adam Carolla explains the OWS Generation - YouTube

Some people have a way of breaking down an issue, laying it out in its simplest, most rudimentary form. Comic and podcaster Adam Carolla did just that recently when he unleashed what many conservatives will hail an acerbic yet painfully accurate debunking of the Occupy movement and its self-ascribed motivations. The nearly ten minute long lampooning of America’s new “f–king self-entitled monsters“ who ”think the world owes them a living” is peppered with very strong language, still, Carolla’s observations are worth listening through to the end. Among the many highlights in Carolla’s rant, he asks why the top “1 percent” of America paying 50 percent of all income taxes in the country is not good enough for the Occupiers. He also observes how “envy” never before existed among Americans the way it does now, and that it, along with “shame” plays a crucial role in the Occupiers’ motivation and self-justification.
Reflecting on how things used to be “back in the day,” Carolla states:
“You took guys who built something, and you said ‘there’s a guy who accomplished something.‘ You didn’t say, ‘that guy didn’t pay his fair share.’ That guy paid millions of dollars last year, and you paid shi*t and you’re pissed at him?”

Regarding the “envy” of Occupiers, the media personality notes that people used to look up to those who “accomplished” something and built businesses.
“It’s this envy and shame, and there’s gonna be a lot more of it,” he warns. “It used to be back in the day, a father was walking his son and they’d see a guy go buy in his Rolls Royce. There goes Mr. Jenkins. Look up to him.’ What do we do now? Oooh, look at him. Does he need that car? Why does he need to drive that car? Let’s throw a rock at it.”

“That’s not gonna help you get out of your Chevette,” Carolla adds sarcastically.
Reflecting on a time when people were rewarded for their actual accomplishments rather than for nothing at all, Carolla laments, “We’re dealing with the first wave of participation trophies…everybody’s a winner, there are no losers.”
He rhetorically asks why the “slowest, fattest guy on the team” would deserve an MVP award. In the process of rewarding those undeserving, Carolla says that “we created a bunch of f**king self-entitled monsters.”
“We’re dealing with the first wave of those f–cking a**holes now,” he blasts in reference to the Occupy protesters. The kind who believe “my own fecal matter doesn’t stink.”
Carolla also strongly suggests that the Occupiers need to “find a mirror” and figure out why they are not “doing better” in life rather than look at others.
For the most part, Carolla maintains that while Capitalism does veer of course at times, it is the “best system.”

More like a has-been that's trying to get his name in the media.

Seems to have worked.

Among the many highlights in Carolla’s rant, he asks why the top “1 percent” of America paying 50 percent of all income taxes in the country is not good enough for the Occupiers.

That 'fact' isn't even true. It's 40%, not 50.

How come 45% do not pay anything, those are the ones we should get after. Everyone should pay something, never mind the 1%, they are paying taxes.

Occupy L.A.: 30 tons of debris left behind at City Hall tent city

Sanitation officials said Wednesday that they expect to haul away 30 tons of debris from the Occupy L.A. encampment –- everything from clothing to heaps of garbage to oddball curiosities left behind by the protesters who lived at the City Hall tent city for two months.

Andrea Alarcon, president of the city Public Works board, said workers already have removed 25 tons of belongings from the City Hall park, all of it heading straight to a landfill.

Sanitation crews also have vacuumed up about 3,000 gallons of water that had washed into a catch basin in recent days and are testing it for hazardous materials, she said.

They don't make enough to pay. I guess nobody has bothered to question why 45% don't make enough to be taxed?

Could it be that we have to many loop holes in our tax code, There are people who make over $100,000+ per year and pay nothing, in fact one I know one who actually gets a refund. He is now retired. We do not have 45% making to little they just know how to play the system. We could cut that 45% figure down a little just by being more watchful. Everyone who makes over what ever the poverty level is should pay something.
"There are about 138 million tax filers in the United States of America, about half of whom pay any federal income tax."

How many tax payers are in America

300+ million people in total that we know of.

Then again we can always do what this guy in India did.

I call bullsh*t! Do you realize what 30 tons of garbage looks like. A full dump truck can carry about 5 tonnes so they would have to pull 6 truckloads out of there.

^ that police officer, like the Arizona conservatives that I previously linked to, does have a valid point whether anyone chooses to believe it or not. I said before and will say again - if our Founding Fathers were alive today they would be the first ones to endorse OWS. Anyone who denies that does not know their history. As JT said in my earlier link, it doesn't matter whether you agree with OWS or not. No one is forcing you to believe their message. The important thing is that we as a society are obligated to respect their views and allow them to present in the manner they choose. Failure to do so jeopardizes their rights and those of all else.

We have another thread on a proposed law that allows feds to detain anyone they wish. Police already have that power even though they do not have the Constitutional authority. Whether you choose to believe it or not, we as a society have entered into a very hazardous slippery slope where our rights are being eroded right before our eyes and those of the rest of the world.

A couple of questions for you.

Were the protesters given time to clean up and pack their tents etc? Looks like some decent tents and sleeping bags and camping gear. I wouldn't have left it behind.

Oh and are you a complete idiot or just need glasses? I would say that once everything shown in your picture was crumpled and folded and piled there might be 5000 lbs (2.5 tons and that's a generous estimate) unless all the tent poles were solid lead and all the tarps were lead lined and the sleeping bags full of rocks.

Maybe the Americans (and you) weigh things different from the rest of us or maybe some people just want to denigrate the movement in any way possible.
