FEMA, W.H. send storm victims to Internet

Isn't it scary how stupid technology can make us?

We had the power go out on our old acreage once. I phoned in to the power company, and was told there'd been a pole hit in a car wreck on the highway, repair time was expected to be about 4 hours. Well, about an hour in, a neighbour driving past wheeled in to chat and see if all was good with us. They wondered aloud what had happened, and I explained what the power company had said. Their reply was astonishment, because at their house, the phones were down as well as the power. *sigh* Yep, they were attempting to use their cordless phones (their only phones, they had no corded back up), to call out. And apparently they're not alone in having no back up phone. When we finished off our renoes and Telus came in to set up our tv system, he commented on the spare phone we put at the telecom box in the laundry room, and pointed out that most customers no longer have one.

Northern Ontario,
I have a fully charged power pack/inverter for the cordless phones and one for the internet router/modem system.
There also a wired phone in the laundry room.....

- Kreskin ... You really are Amazing. It isn't just Romney who says its the states' job to manage the recovery and relief operations in this kind of situation. The CONSTITUTION also says this. Now I realize that this president thinks less of and adheres less to the consitution than any previous president but both the basic law of the land and management common sense says this is the way to go. I also realize that the left wing loons have an authoritarian, big government mentality by which everything from health care to disaster relief to business to birth control to the heartbreak of psoriasis must be controlled by the big government in Washington and that governors and mayors and ordinary citizens are mere peons and pissants under the thumb of the central government but this is seen by conservatives including this one as both an unconstitutional infringement on our freedoms and a highly inefficient way tio allocate resources and optimize productivity and innovation in almost all areas,

- Romney and Ryan are asking their supporters to pitch in with their time, effort, supplies and money as a conservative response to crisis in which the people of a community voluntarily band together and help oput their neighbours in time of need. Its why Romney donates 10-20 hours of his own time every week and millions of dollars of his own money every year to voluntarily serve others. It doesn`t mean their is not a role for governments in recovering from this disaster as well as a role for churches and other NGOs like the Red Cross. All it means is that individuals also matter and should come together as a community in crisis like these. This, of course, flies in the face of docterinaire liberals who don`t really believe in voluntarily helping others but only in being coerced by governments to pay them to help others. It explains why Joe Biden for decades gave less than one half of one percent of his healthy combined income with his lawyer wife to charity and why Obama has left all of his relatives to live in abject poverty here and in Kenya.

- Incredibly, Obama had no executive experience when he assumed the most complex and consequential executive job in the world. As Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden noted when they ran against him, there is no management trainee program in the White House for presidents. His lack of executive experience has shown through clearly in the way he has failed on every file he has put his hand to.

- So if there is any baloney being served up on this, it is obviously by you, Amazing.

He doesn't really have time to be President, then. PotUS is a full time job.

- What an incredibly obtuse and gullible horse's rectum you can be!

- Obama spends most of his time at fund raising events (more than the previous 3 presidents combined) and White House entertainment evenings with the Hollyweird set and on TV talk shows and morning rock shows and on lengthy and expensive holidays domestic and foreign and playing golf (more than any other president ever) and shooting hoops and basically doing everything but being president.

- The president part is the one he has no experience at, having never been president of even a lemonaid stand, so Obama spends very little time on the business of being president and attending security and intelligence and economic briefings and having cabinet meetings and schmoozing with congressional leaders across the aisle or even those from his own party.

- In Obama's case, his presidential negligence and laziness is actually not such a bad thing because he is so inexperienced and incompetent that he'd probably screw most things up even worse than he already has if he actually decided to pay attention to his job.

- Romney as a superbly organized and disciplined and experienced executive will still find the time to put at least his ten hours a week (about two rounds of golf for BO) into serving others while actually solving national problems instead of creating some and making others worse.

- I don't expect you to actually understand any of this but thought it was worth a shot.

Actually Bush 2 (your hero I would imagine) took more vacations than any president and played the most golf since Kennedy. Get you facts straight.

Are you Obama's personal secretary? If not how would you know what he does with his time? Or are you just fling partisan bullsh*t? BTW, it's lemonade dummy..since you like to pick on spelling errors.

Obama doesn't have the years & years of experience in raping & gutting American companies and selling the jobs to China for huge personal gain like Romney but he does have 4 years more experience at president than Mittens.

- PN ... 1/ What I do recognize from your post is that you are full of crap and only marginally aquainted with the truth.

2/ Actually, you are lying, just making crap up for your lefty buds. Here are the results of the first years of Bush and Obama on the golf course: "GOLF: 29 rounds of golf
• Most frequent courses: Fort Belvoir 11 times; Andrews AFB: 8 times.
• George W. Bush played golf 7 times his first year.

- Since you have weak cognitive skills (except, of course, cognitive dissonance which is a sine qua non for all lefties) let me tell you what that means. The figures were compiled from the two presidents' daily agendas. Obama played more than four times as many rounds as Bush. In subsequent years, Barry has continued his avid golfing. Bush stopped playing golf entirely for the duration of his presidency when he ordered the invasion of Iraq because he believed it sent the wrong signal to the soldiers under his command. Obama has no such scruples. As to playing the most golf since JFK, Ford and Clinton played more than Bush and Obama plays more than any of them. Stop making sh#t up please.

3/ If you weren't an ignorant moron, you would know that almost everything a president does during his time in office is recorded in offical agendas and available to public scrutiny.

4/ You are again being a bold faced liar about Romney with the ridiculous Democratic talking point that is part of the most dishonest, distorted and dirtiest campaign in history. This is the kind of squalid company you seem to enjoy. I will not bother to go yet another round on this ridiculous crap except to say that Romney knows a hellava lot more than Obama about how to deal with the Chinese and will be a tougher and more effective president in this regard. Obama had NO executive experience when he became president and has botched almost everything he has attempted in the Oval Office.

Get lost, kid.

Well what do we have here- Another leaving the fold.

Massachusetts

Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown is casting himself as an independent Republican voice and Democratic rival Elizabeth Warren says she’ll guarantee women equal pay as the nation’s costliest Senate contest races toward an Election Day finale. But for all of the cash and careful messaging, the result could hinge on which campaign is better organized to turn out voters.

“I’ve kept my promise to be an independent voice. I put people ahead of politics and now I need your help to keep that independent tradition alive in Massachusetts,” Mr. Brown says in his final ad, which features him embracing voters and driving his pickup truck. But it avoids any mention of Mr. Brown’s party affiliation.

While Massachusetts is home to fellow Republican Mitt Romney – whose campaign Mr. Brown has endorsed – the only image of a presidential candidate in the 60-second ad is Democrat Barack Obama. The president holds a commanding lead over Mr. Romney in the state.

The ad closes: “Vote the person, not the party.”

Ms. Warren’s final pitch, meanwhile, casts her as a fighter for the middle class and portrays Mr. Brown as beholden to millionaires, billionaires and “big oil.”

“For all the families still struggling, all the people who deserve a decent job, and the women who deserve equal pay. For our kids, crushed by student debt, and our parents, worried about Medicare. Know this: My fight is for you,” Ms. Warren says in the ad unveiled Wednesday.

They were the closing arguments of a $66-million Senate race, the nation’s most expensive in a year of close contests that have left control of the chamber in question. Republicans must gain four seats to win the majority of Mr. Obama wins re-election, three if Mr. Romney prevails.

With polls showing a tight contest, the result could depend on which candidate has the better-organized turnout operation.

Mr. Brown could face stiff headwinds in a state where Republicans hold a small fraction of elected seats, but the state party is mounting what it says is the largest volunteer field operation in its history.

So I am far more acquainted with it than you then. And I spelled it correctly.

2/ Actually, you are lying, just making crap up for your lefty buds. Here are the results of the first years of Bush and Obama on the golf course: "GOLF: 29 rounds of golf

Oh no! BamBam spent about 135 hours playing golf whereas the Shrubster spent like 130+ days on vacation in Texas.

- Since you have weak cognitive skills (except, of course, cognitive dissonance which is a sine qua non for all lefties) let me tell you what that means. I once played over 250 rounds in a year. It was great fun and very relaxing. You should take up the sport but I imagine you prefer to spend 18 hours a day in your mother's basement praying to the great prophet Romney and sifting the internet for pictures of the right wing leadership to jerk off to.

3/ If you weren't an ignorant moron, you would know that almost everything a president does during his time in office is recorded in official agendas and available to public scrutiny.
Nice, but with a girlfriend, 5 kids, 3 houses and a full time job I don't have time to read through his daily agenda. That of course makes me think that if you have so much time to spend on tracking the movements and agenda of the president and searching for things to prop up your republican Jesus you must be one of those welfare bums leeching off the system. Not to mention if you think everything the president does is available for public consumption you are a bigger idiot than I could have imagined.

4/ You are again being a bold faced liar about Romney with the ridiculous Democratic talking point that is part of the most dishonest, distorted and dirtiest campaign in history.
Have you ever been out in the real world? I know what your hero did for a living all those years and it wasn't running a charity. He made his millions by screwing over the working man. I could present you with a history of Bain Capital and his involvement with Mark Singer screwing the taxpayers for millions from the auto bail-out but you wouldn't believe any of it so why bother.

I will not bother to go yet another round on this ridiculous crap except to say that Romney knows a hellava lot more than Obama about how to deal with the Chinese
Of course he does, he sold them half of the american auto industry and a lot more.

Obama had NO executive experience when he became president
Actually nobody has experience being president the first time they get elected. Based on Mittens' history I wouldn't be surprised to see the govt pension plans pillaged and congress parted out to the highest bidder all for his personal profit if he does win the race.

Get lost, kid.
Hey dumb-a$$. Try for just one nanosecond to let something enter your thick skull other than Romney's d*ck. I am not a leftist, in fact I am quite right leaning on a lot of issues, I would support Ron Paul over anyone if the idiots in the republican party had enough sense to nominate him instead of the 2 bit political wh*re they have running now. I am also far from a kid and unlike you don't still live in Mommy & Daddy's basement drinking mountain dew and surfing the web for republican porn.

The ad closes: “Vote the person, not the party.”
Now there is the best pitch I've heard from a politician in a long time.

Romney and Ryan are in full scale political prostitution over this event. Predictable yet so phoney.

Mitt Romney Continues Tradition of Charity with Hurricane Sandy Relief, Despite Media Claims of Campaign Stunt

133

Mitt Romney donated his inheritance to Brigham Young University to help disadvantaged students pursue higher education in public management and government. He donated his entire salary with the Olympics to charity as well as giving the Olympics $1 million of his own money. During his entire term as governor of Massachusetts, he refused to take a salary. The Romneys give millions per year to their church and other organizations. Now, he is helping bring aid to victims of Hurricane Sandy, and the media expects us to believe this is a campaign stunt.
The Romney campaign has been collecting supplies in Virginia, North Carolina, and New Hampshire, and Governor Romney deployed his campaign bus to deliver supplies to those affected by the hurricane. “Governor Romney’s concern is the safety and well-being of those in the path of Hurricane Sandy,” Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul said Monday morning.
However, there are those who don’t want to believe Romney is simply helping those in need.
MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asserted that Romney’s act of good will was actually a campaign stunt. Martin Bashir added to this by saying that Romney “spent today going against the guidelines established by the Red Cross and holding a campaign rally in Ohio that was dressed up like a charity drive collecting food and other supplies.” There will always be though who would rather score political points than give the candidate credit.
Why is it so hard to believe that a man with a history of charity work and charitable giving would be doing just that when people are in genuine need? It isn’t a campaign stunt or political move, and that’s exactly why the Left is worried.

- Good morning boys and, of course, Valerie.

- By now you all know about the devastation and misery caused by Hurricane Sandy with at least 16 people killed and over five million people without power and at least 100 billion dollars of flood, wind and fire damage and another 100 billion dollars and more lost from shutting down much of our economy on the Eastern Seaboard for up to three days - and the thing is still not done.

-

While possibly not being quite as articulate or erudite as you, I think I may still be able to convey a message to you.................YOU ARE FULL OF SH*T!

Fox and Friends thinks a benefit concert after a hurricane is merely a campaign event for Obama:
The benefit, "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together," will air on Friday night, and features performances by Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Christina Aguilera and Billy Joel, among others. The televised benefit concert has become a staple of post-disaster relief efforts. But "Fox and Friends" smelled a rat, since the concert is airing so close to the presidential election.

"Good intention, raise some money for victims, but the timing is more than suspect," guest host Eric Bolling said. "Is this more political? Is this more, let's get this thing on TV before the election to help President Obama look more presidential? Or is it more to help out victims?"

"It does look like they're trying to squeeze it in," Steve Doocy agreed. He then noted that Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen are avowed Obama supporters (they are also New Jersey musical icons, of course).
For context, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana on August 29th 2005, and NBC held it's A Concert for Hurricane Relief on September 2nd, 2005.
