Your councellor was wrong. They just made you think they were the solution to your problems...

Actually, that counsellor was quite right. If one sees the drug as a solution, it is a solution ... to the user - just the same as being a big mouth on an anonymous forum gives others some warped sense of self worth.

You are addicted to counciling.

I just like helping those that took a wrong path if I can.

Depression and suicide or death caused by drugs is a treatable disease, addiction is a disease and it doesnt have to be drugs, thats what transference is all about, many who quit drinking or other drugs change to gambling, over eating, internet,tv,etc.

The problems still there, counseling teaches you how to deal with that and also many tools on how to deal with the problems that arise that can lead to a relapse such as loss, grief, anger and much more.
These are life skills that most addicts lack, deal with those and the rest becomes easier, dealing with an addiction is a 24/7 hour job,it's there for life and thats why their is 12 step programs in every country in the world.

I've lost way too many good friends lately to just ignore it anymore.

You're sure you're on the right path then? How would an addict know? They are very succeptible to suggestion you know. Millions of them still believe 911 was done by Osama Bin Leakin.

Since I never tried any illegal dope, I am not an expert on this subject.

But with all the controversy about it, I don't think I will ever try.

Chicken, afraid of a garden plant, it's only a matter of time before the tomatoes gang up on you Jack. Their are millions of little old ladies in the east who would laugh at your pathetic impotence.

Hollywood Henerson is an awesome motivational speaker about recovery and addictions.

"When I turned 20 years sober, I just thought it was a monumental date," says Henderson, who hasn't had a drink or done any drugs since November 8, 1983. "I thought that my story was worth telling, like a continual autobiographical look over my shoulder at my life. To sum it up, it's a public service, knowing that alcohol and other drugs affect probably every family in America. This is not a 'Thomas Henderson is a great guy' book. This is a look over the shoulder of a recovering crack addict.
"I could have stayed in a private life and kept my recovery to myself. But I thought anybody who has been off crack and alcohol for 21 years, that there may be a word, a sentence, a paragraph, or a chapter in this story that could actually impact a family."
At a recent book-signing in Dallas, Luksa marveled at how complete strangers from all different walks of life poured their hearts out to Henderson. "He had people coming up to him telling him, 'I've been clean and sober for six months, for 11 months--I just got out of prison, and I'm trying to go straight. I could use some help,'" Luksa says.
"I've had people stand before me crying," Henderson says. "I had a father and son come, and three days later the father called me to tell me that the son had asked him to help him get into treatment. The family had been enduring him for 10 or 12 years, and he read half of my book in three days and asked to get treatment."

darkbeaver, your post #90 (not worth quoting) indicates that you are Hell bent on picking a fight with me. As always.

Consider yourself totally irrelevent.

But just to be nice, I must tell you that for many, many years I have grown my own, LEGAL garden vegetables, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, beans, peas, etc. Enjoyed them in season and preserved by freezing or pickling.

Maybe you have experiences with "millions of little old ladies". I am too chicken to do that. Unlike to you, to me, my marriage vows mean something.

And also, unlike you, I never had any complaints about impotence. Certainly, never needed any enhancement by illegal drugs.

Bum tripper, eh, dude! Perhaps it was all that hair interfering with proper brain function. Now that you shave your head, perhaps you can think clearer.

The kind that realize they aren't as good as their wife at gardening; especially when they don't like squash to begin with. I'm not crazy about the stuff either.

While I readily admit that my wife has "GREEN THUMB", and she grows anything and everything better than I ever could, I would like to remind darkbeaver that when I listed the veggies I grew, I had that little word "ETC", in there somewhere. It might have included squash.

My typeings bad, surely your intelligent enough to know what I meant or are you here just to nitpick and ignore the real message?
Don't get your knickers in a knot. I'm only pulling your leg a bit on that one. I knew what you meant.
