Actually the 25000 refugees Canada has committed to is a pittance compared to what Germany can expect. Up to 800 thousand to a million THIS year.. almost all unvetted, undocumented. This in a country that has high unemployment and no prospect of economically assimilating them.. not to mention culturally. To think this won't have the most profound social consequences, none good, is fantasy.

I've heard from a source or two that these numbers are already wreaking havoc on the citizens of Germany. A good example of pay attention to what happens to others and learn from it.:)

Exactly! I can't imagine what Merkel was thinking. She is so good with the economy, how could she have made such a blatant error in judgment?
I'm afraid she has committed political suicide with this issue.

Actually Turdeau is guilty of bombing the **** out of them just last weekend.

You may want to check your sources on that one, I think he was busy getting his a$$ over to Turkey on the weekend. For all his faults I don't see Justin as a violent man..................too much the other way if anything!

Yeah? How many Germans have been killed by Syrian refugees so far?

According to your "sources?"

It wasn't killing that was mentioned?
So, none?

Gee, maybe they aren't quite the slavering horde of monstrous murderers you seem to think they are.

But I'm sure your "sources" will tell you different.

Damn, when did Canadians become such cowards?

Don't take that personal now, hear? Americans are worse.

Winter is coming. I vote for taking in the refugees. All from one city or county, so they know each other, the ones we need to know will pop up. Boat them over so we get to know everybody, casually. It would be a great relax for everyone. Nice Canadian touch I think. Hockey movies all the way over.
Our international security obligations have to come first, We don't want to let our partners down do we. We could take 100,000. If we could get the right mix we could expand further into the boreal forest, people who could build there own villages out of that forest, some roads some bridges cheaper than refusing to cooperate with the intenational community at this time. Terror must be stopped. I have to buy snow tires tomorrow.

Syria is a beautiful country, see the war clips, really nice trees, rivers armour lots of ruins old and new.

One of the big problems we already have is getting professionals like doctors and nurses and technicians willing to settle in the smaller communities, so I think the refugees may be the key to alleviating that problem. We should be scrutinizing the huge list of refugees being considered and only select the ones that are able to provided services like doctor, nurses, etc. and who requirements are minimal, so they can also be contributing to the tax base very quickly. We certainly don't need to be importing more people to be burden on already over taxed services.

Extremely unlikely. Harper took flack for wanting to take the time to peruse the millions in camps to find professionals, and those most in danger, like gays, christians and yazidis. Trudeau's priority is warm bodies, here, now. Any kind will do. There are most unlikely to be many with the kind of education and credentials to work as professionals in Canada. What we're bringing over are future taxi drivers, janitors and security guards with homebound wives. (only 11% of Syrian women worked outside the home prior to the war, and most worked in agriculture).

Immigrants vote Liberal.. they are just trying to seed the population..

They will just end up dividing the country.

You mean these women were able to be full time mothers, god what barbarians. This country is already awash in unemployed professionals, unemployed PHDs, gays, christians, WTF is wrong with ordinary people, usefull people.

Make use of all the empty military compounds for when the first arrive. Everything that they need can be provided for them. Bring in translators and teachers and lots of information about all of Canada. It will be winter so organize some hockey teams for the kids. Canadian Tire would probably donate the equipment needed. They will need something to do besides studying all the time. Once they have a decent grasp of English, let them choose a place to move to and they can be off to their new life in Canada.

This might work but only if the duration of their stay in the camps is as short as possible. Too long a stay with not enough to do could create all kinds of problems.
