I doubt it- if Iggy were to pull a stunt like that and didn't get a majority, he'd live to rue the day.

In reading through the various posts and contributions, it seems that the sentiment (strongly) exists that the libs would clean house.

BTW - I heard Iggy speak on the radio today. It appears that he's backed-down (again) and are capitulating to Harper's will.

But on the positive side for the lib supporters, Iggy does get to appoint a couple of members to a non-binding fact-finding committee that will need years to amass the data and draw conclusions.

With $50 Billion in the glue only 8 months into a 4-year term minority term, the Harper Conservatives are being watched by the people as well the opositions in such a bad economy through the sight of the shotgun’s telescope, meaning their tolerance is thinning by the minute.

Iggy on the other hand, is proving to be a great strategist, looking at Harper wearing the hat of bad debt which will get bigger if the Conservatives stay in power, it is clear Iggy is not backing down from Harper’s stupid demands but rather Iggy by prolonging the confidence vote he is in fact giving the Harper Conservatives rope to economically hang them self’s and that is how Iggy will Guarantee a “MAJORITY” by the fall.

Thats the stupidest thing you have posted in a long time. And I am assuming you mean 'MAJORITY'

Great day to you Risus, go back way back on my posts on elections and you will see that long ego I predicted that Iggy would be the leader of the Liberal party, I am bang on and you will soon see the result. You have not been debating much what happened? Nice to see you here, even though you are a cranky forum friend.

Based on your synopsis, it appears that you are predicting that Iggy will topple the gvt on Friday and that the liberals will go on to form a majority.

Is this a fair statement?

Sorry Captain, but you should know by now, I never make predictions. Anyway, I understand they have reached a deal.

No one can speak to the details, but based on Iggy's speech, it sounds very much like he capitulated on his EI demands, which essentially was his entire bag of ammo.

The lib party really ought to muzzle the guy. He does damage to himself and his party everytime he opens his mouth.

It sounds to me like Harper is the one to capitulate. Ignatieff had the demands that Harper met obviously. Do a bit of reading Captain.

If the Harper Conservatives are being guided by the Liberals it shows who is in control in Ottawa.

Is like the dad driving the car and the kid is driving from dad’s lap………. It is so obvious that the Conservatives are in trouble and fighting for their political life or jobs.

Maybe between those two goofs there's enough brain cells to run the country properly for awhile- that would be the best case scenario. Anyway they got the election out of their thick heads.

Maybe- another scenario is Harper is giving Iggy enough rope so that if things do screw up he has someone to share the blame with. Harper's I.Q. is probably in the luke warm range.

Hey Soc. I've been busy and have not had much time to spend here. I notice you haven't addressed the issue about Iggy being more in bed with the yankees than Harper ever was. You must be eating crow on this one.

Good day JLM, I totally doubt that,
8 months ego Harper told the country we will not operate in deficit mode, our growth will be modest, being that Canada is in much better financial position then the rest of the world, stopping short for self-serving reasons and did not thank the Liberals for the shape of the economy when the Snow White Conservatives received it in 2006.

So, Iggy by far is not the cause of the $50.2 Billion Glue or red ink, my forum friend you are reading this one poorly, stating that the people will blame Iggy for such drastic change of economic agenda from no deficit to $50.2 Billion, just in 8 months.

Look in the name of prosperity and peace Canada needs a PM who will work with the Americans close together. You may argue that Harper did that, but I will argue that Harper meant nothing to Bush other then a Conservative political supporter who was willing to deliver a speech used by another PM to help build confidence in the eyes of the world justifying the start of war on false evidence. So Iggy is nothing the likes of Harper and Canadians are starting to realize that fact and this is why you see the polls have the Liberals ahead.

Harper has no choice but to change his strategy as circumstances change- only an idiot would do otherwise.

Of course Iggy had nothing to do with the astronomical deficit, Socrates. The love affair of conservatives with huge deficits is well known. Let me list the proponents of the Conservative ‘borrow and spend’ philosophy, who borrowed hugely, gave tax cuts to the rich, and ran up astronomical deficits.

Reagan
1st Bush
2nd Bush
Mulroney
Mike Harris
Harper.

In addition, some of them (Reagan, Mike Harris) made deep cuts to the services for the poor. The whole philosophy (borrow and spend, cut taxes for the rich and services for the poor) is a very nasty philosophy.

That is why I want no part of it. I can possibly see myself voting for a red Tory. But a blue Tory, a right winger like Harper (who is governing from centre right only because he has a minority)? No way.

Harper comes from a long line of deficit spenders, why should he not stay true to the conservative philosophy of ‘borrow and spend’?

Do you recall Iggy stating that he wanted the money flowing – do you think he would have no bailed out the auto industry – Do you think? Iggy voted for it and Harper pushed the money out the door. Remember it takes 2 parties to pass a spending bill and Iggy was right there. Holding the Govt to account – So far how successful has he been.

This week he once again almost found his spine and attempted to stand tall and Harper shut him down on his key demand – So what did Iggy gain this week – Certainly not a spine – Perhaps we should name him the Hunchback of Liberalism. Appropriate I might say.

Iggy spent to long under Dion – Threats and then back down – back to his serenity -

That was pretty sweet watching Iggy make a fool of himself all week... Just like his mentor Dion, he makes lots of noise, but has no substance to back it up.

I do see lots of parallels between Iggy and Dion - Perhaps it has to do with their limited backgrounds in academics and having no foundation in the real world.
