Hey, for the record, I've been saying it from the start.... from my first post on this topic and my first sentence:
"Who said anything about racism..... to some, a KKK member is spooky and scary.... perfect halloween costume if you want to risk getting your ass beaten good."
ie: don't be surprised if someone gets offended and takes matters into their own hands.
Though some in this thread (not saying you) seem to think I was saying something completely different and created an argument out of something I never said.
If anything, I was promoting the justification of people being offended and beating the crap out of someone for making them offended.... while at the same time, defending these guys as doing something pretty damn stupid, but not racist.
When will people grow up already?
Have they not learned (or forgot) what every four year old knows about sticks and stones?
Will they ever learn that unless someone attacks you, your family or your pocketbook, that person has a right to his/her words and they have the right not to be offended, provided they are sane?

If it was meant to offend, meant to be a support of the KKK, and meant to injure black people then yes, make a ton of phone calls. If it was a poor attempt at humour, tell him you find it a poor attempt at humour. *shrugs*

I'm assuming from the link that it's a costume with a priest, and it would receive the same reaction from me as a KKK costume would. I'd say it's distasteful, poorly thought out. I wouldn't call for the shut down of the club associated with it.

Or get it out there so maybe some other guy thinks twice before doing the same thing or something similar.
So I have heard now, people should get over it, it's just Halloween, you can't be too offended by something, pc going to far, Halloween will be banned, that isn't offensive but this other thing is.....balh blah blah.

One gal called into CBC radio on Halloween all excited about dressing up like a vampire. Her costume didn't leave much to the imagination. Nice, but really I can get the same effect at the local strip joint. Her comment really blew my mind, "It's the only time of year I can dress like a tramp and not be judged by other women for doing so!" Haha...how bloody shallow can you get?
Adults have taken Halloween and turned it into a freak show for the morally depraved. Halloween used to be a celebration of the harvest where folks would acknowledge the bounty of the earth. Leave it to adults to screw up a good holiday. Freaks of all types come out of the woodwork during this day. It's not even safe for kids anymore with more freaks sitting in their homes putting razors, needles and all sorts of crap inside the treats. What used to be a cool day for kids has morphed into a circus sideshow that keeps getting crazier each year. But hey, at least you're exercising your right to freely act like a moron one day of the year.

I don't think the Legion personnel thought this one through very well. That said, the amount of vitriol being spit over this is really amazing.
From everything I have read and heard, the fellows responsible simply did not think this one through either. One fellow has apologized several times in the media and to people in his town. He stated he is not racist and that it didn't even cross his mind that it would be taken that way. (I will leave comments about his mind to others). He is now facing threats and worries that he may be run out of town. Get that - run out of town. Hmmm.... shades of tarring and feathering from the very folks who are chasing him. IMHO, that is carrying this way too far.

RCL has been suffering declining memberships and on the verge of closing some branches. I hope Nunn and Crowley aren't being used as scapegoats for this one. Poor choice in a politically correct mania.
