Harper isn't exactly for openness and transparency in government. He has surrounded himself fraudsters and criminals. He supported George W. Bush's Iraq war crime and expressed unshakably support for Israeli war criminals. Harper sided with a dictator against the democracy movement in Egypt. He used to promise senate Reform, but has changed his tune when he gained power to appoint senators.
I don't trust Ignatieff. He gained power by back room deals and power plays. He spent most of his adult life in the US pretending to be an American. He also supported Bush's war crimes in Iraq and Israeli war criminals. The man is intelligent and crafty, but unfit for the PM's job.
Jack Layton and the NDP seem the next best choice. I like the Green Party, but the momentum against politics as usual seems to be with the NDP and I'd like to contribute to that trend.
I like Gilles Duceppe. The man seems relatively sincere for a politician and he does a good job IMO representing the interests of Quebecers. But the tide has turned against the separatists and hopefully within an election or two, they will cease to be relevant.

There's nothing funnier, than a post that opens with "Fear mongering conservative propaganda.". Only to be followed by fear mongering and paranoia.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. At least I can support my opinion up with facts. How exactly is a vote for the NDP a vote against jobs? When did Layton come out and say he is for raising unemployment levels???

The Liberal Canadidate has a PHd in Political Science, went to Colombia on behalf of Lawyers Without Borders, does community work on behalf of low income people.... Well educated and intellectual. Aware of international politics and advocate of the low-income individuals and newcomers to Canada. Hmmm

The NDP has little hope of defeating the evil conservatives (Darth Harper, not Mike Wallace) in my riding. The Liberal has the best chance of defeating them and is the most qualified IMO.
OK I just changed my mind and I am voting Alyssa Brierley based on her qualifications, experience and ability to beat the incumbent Conservative....

If the NDP candidate had a chance of winning or was better qualified than the Liberal, I would gladly vote NDP. Maybe someone reading this will be facing a similar dilemma in their riding but only in their riding its the Liberal candidate who doesn't have a chance of defeating the Conservative and will vote for the better qualified and more likely to win NDP candidate.

If the conservative won by a single vote, I'd be kicking myself for not voting Liberal. I'm sure other ridings out there pitch the Conservative against an NDP candidate, where the Liberal is a distant 3rd. In such cases I hope Liberals vote NDP, rather than contribute to vote splitting and allowing Harper to get his dreaded majority...

thats not a good way to do things, its a sign of how flawed our electoral system is. aren't there other countries that allow you to vote 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice? in that case, a person could vote their heart with either their first vote, and vote strategically as well.
But for a personal to not vote their heart in our current system? that scares me. above all, we need to make sure we make our beliefs be counted. that wont happen if you vote strategically.
Guess you ain't too long in the tooth....Cancelling someone's vote simply means your not voting for the same party...nothing more.:lol:
