If only Obama had an ounce of the class Mitt Romney has...

Can you understand the trillion bucks it cost to 'bail-out' the banks after their ponzi scheme bubble exploded and the absolute meltdown of the global economy and what effect that had?

Do you believe that if you allowed the banks to go titters, that no one would have lost their homes? The economy would have been A-Ok?

Who were the people buying the over-inflated homes? Did they have a gun top their heads?

I actually don't agree with how it was handled (should have charged all the execs with fraud and seized all their assets) but the financial crisis was what ran up the debt. The US currency was highly devalued and tax revenue dropped by 20% due to unemployment rates.

I disagree. The US dollar was over-valued at the time (in my opinion) particularly in comparison to the mounting trade deficit that was developing.

And I would encourage everyone to boycott your products...go sell your $200 sneakers to the people you pay 25 cents a day in China, see how far you get.

Funny... The made-in-America products will see those $200 shoes jump up to $400-$500... I can't imagine that too many will buy them, so we'll just observe yet another bankruptcy and the mass layoffs to go with it

Classy to the bitter end. Look what he did to the loyal workers that stayed with him past the end to make sure everything was put into order..............

From the moment Mitt Romney stepped off stage Tuesday night, having just delivered a brief concession speech he wrote only that evening, the massive infrastructure surrounding his campaign quickly began to disassemble itself.

Aides taking cabs home late that night got rude awakenings when they found the credit cards linked to the campaign no longer worked.

Romney Cuts Credit Cards Of Staffers Before The Cab Ride Home [Report]

That speaks volumes about how he would have treated the majority of Americans who are working middle class and poor.

How much did the gov't of the day really have to do with the financial collapse in the U.S? Don't individuals have to take responsibility? Who in their right mind would go out on a limb and "buy" a house with no money down and at an interest rate they know is going to increase after one year? The people who engineered this (Fanny & Freddie) of course are third rate criminals but in the final an alysis don't people have to take responsibility for their own actions? I suppose where Gov't was remiss was in not hanging the likes of Fanny and Freddie and Ken Lay and Bernie Madoff!

The problem with many people is that they can't see that neither Obama nor Romney are good for America.

They speak different rhetoric, but in the end, they are all just puppets of various corporations and lobby groups and have the exact same goal.

I think this forum should stop attacking each other on whether they supported the better of two evils and focus on how to steer our countries into true democracies where the people have a voice and role in day-to-day politics.

Couldn't agree with you more; The upside that I saw in Romney over Obama was that he appeared to be of the opinion that the US was better-off swallowing their pill sooner rather than later... Obama's position seemed to be that of deferring the pain in lieu of a bigger pill at a later time.

Other than that, there were few issues that are dramatically different between the 2

There is probably a lot of truth in that, but it's nothing new, and to get back to the day when it wasn't might entail visiting the times of Abraham Lincoln. When the people are selecting people who have $muliti billions at their disposal, you know full well there is very little good in it for the common man. Most of the banter about the election is in good fun but unfortunately two or three posters are intent on generating hatred.............one this morning already wishing Obama dies in a plane crash. If this forum was run properly that A$$hole would be permanently banned!

I fully agree with the rationale- but details of the reality are quite disconcerting...................while the wage slave is swallowing the little pill, the pals of Romney would likely be wallowing in wealth Romney would be slipping to them.............don't forget were he elected there would be a lot of people he would "owe" a pisspot full. Those bastards surfaced before midnight on election night!

That sounds like a conspiracy theory.

Didn't Obama say that was all paid back? How can a bailout that was repaid add to the debt?

I was on that bandwagon 20 years ago. It didn't work. No one cared. Now it's too late.

Out of fairness there is a little contraversy about that. I don't know the right answer.............whether it was repaid on paper or in real cash!

Yup, I understand, and that's fair. I know politically motivated accountants can obfuscate numbers as well as any self respecting statistician. In this case, however, I'm more interested in Obama's claim, than in reality.

"We got back every dime used to rescue the banks," he told the crowd gathered Oct. 18 in Victory Park. "We made that happen."

Oh yeah, the $127,000 I made in 9 months last year puts me in that 47%. I paid more in tax than half the population earns. And my mother lives in the basement of one of my rental properties....but I don't charge her.
