T God I'm glad I live here.

My neighbors and I were echoing your sentiments this morning as we were talking about both the earthquake off Haida Gwaii and hurricane Sandy. The Heartland may seem boring to many but we don't have to worry about quakes or hurricanes, typhoons or volcanic eruptions. Except for the occasional bit of flooding which rarely amounts more than to a short road closure, or a heavy snowfall, we are blessed to live in this part of the county. Our hearts and thoughts are with those affected by Sandy.

There is a real positive here for some, this storm will fill the mailboxes of the unsuspecting
asking for money to fight global warming and prevent the planet from destruction. Of course
no one will count the damage to the forest for sending out all those letters asking for more
money to save the environment.
I am also glad I live on a farm on a hill, those who built or bought a house in a former swamp
or on a beach should have thought about that before putting their money down. Its not the
environment, it is people who are a problem.

My manager and his assistant are taking shifts at work tonight, because the server that houses our alarm system is in NJ. Long night for them.

One dead in Canada so far, and the storm is still off the coast of the US.

"Police confirmed the woman was struck by an airborne sign at the intersection of Keele Street and St. Clair Avenue. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The sign broke loose amid strong winds"

I've been watching CNN for the last hour or more (more listening than
watching, I guess) with their Reporters out in the streets up to their
belly buttons in sea water doing their reports, with sea weed swirling
around the dude in Atlantic City. This is some weird ****.

Many feet of salt water in the subways, & 3ft of water (last I heard) on
the floor of the NY Stock Exchange.

You want to know another positive of hurricanes?

They're great for the sign industry, as well as the roofing industry.

Everybody needs signs and everybody needs shingles.... Hurricanes keep those industries busy ;)

Backwater, Ontario.
3:33 AM - wind woke us up. Time for a decaff and check the property.

So far, nothing untoward, wind is noisy but not exceptionally strong here. Nothing we haven't seen before - yet.

Hardly any rain - yet.

Got fun new big batteries for the flashlights. Scared a rabbit out by the apple tree.

Very sad about the lady in Toronto killed by a falling sign. Anyone can be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kind thoughts for her and her family.

:eek:fftheair:Nuggs Frankenstorm report off the air and back to bed.. Pretty in depth, eh:roll:
