as I said earlier: WHAT GUN CONTROL???

so, having said that: What would be a more constructive route to take with this gun issue. ( regardless of type ) Given that guns are a key part of the culture now. Suspect more folks have them, than don't have them now.....So how is this to be dealt with , where the majority would be satisfied.
thx.

Northern Ontario,
That may be your rule as a bloodthirsty sort with no respect for life, but it isn't mine.
So a 17 year old kid is a charging bear? Grow up for f'uck's sake.

I'll tell you one thing for sure. I sure as hell wouldn't go hunting with a trigger-happy schmuck like you Sleepy

Well I wouldn't go prospecting with you, because I might have to carry your body back out..
Did you know that a bear can travel 30-40 mph...that 50 feet in one second....

I do believe that you would fail the test for wilderness carry permit for handgun, which I passed with a score in the high 90's
Edit: 95.2% written test
36 0ut of 36 for shooting..all bullets hit the specified mark...

The majority of gun owners, which are the only ones that should have any say in this would be happy to have registration and a bunch of the useless laws on carrying and purchasing done away with since the criminal element does not obey them anyway.
Face it, hunting rifles are rarely used in committing real crimes anyway. The only laws hunters or farmers break are the ones some cityot that never shot a rifle dreamed up to buy votes from other cityots making criminals out of people that are just minding their own business.
Which is what you should be doing.

Even when that unarmed kid is sitting on top of you punching you in the face?????
If you just try to smack someone with a gun, you deserve to be shot with your own gun!!!

For goodness sake, Zimmerman was simply a member of the neighbourhood watch and was told by the dispatcher to stand down, and let the police handle it. Since the kid was reportedly on the phone with his girlfriend through the whole incident, carrying an ice tea and a bag of skittle candies, and found face down weaponless, with head injuries as well as bleeding from his back, there are holes in Zimmerman's story, one could drive a truck through. No matter if Zimmerman's version is true, there should have been a thorough investigation.

This incident is NOT going to be swept under the rug. Being black, young and wearing a hoodie seems to be a recipe for disaster here. Sanford police have not arrested Zimmerman, largely because "Stand Your Ground" requires them, without clear evidence of malice and in the absence of eyewitness testimony to the contrary, to accept Zimmerman's argument he was acting in self-defense.

How appropriate is the label "Gunshine State" ?? Fits rather well in my opinion.

If you think a human attacking you is different....your living in a dream world....wake up for f_ck's sake!

If you think a bear attacking you and a human attacking you are the same thing, you're living in some kind of world but it's not the real one.

If this Zimmerman guy was so hopped on community patrols, why the **** didn't he learn to defend himself against unarmed attackers?

Rather weird response, but hey ..... perhaps you haven't met people who sleep with a loaded revolver under their pillow or drive with a loaded gun on the passenger seat. I have met both types. I do not wonder why the wifey sleeps elsewhere, do you,? particularly since he admits he often leaves the safety off!!

Fear of nutballs with guns, I fully admit to, hurt feelings, nah. Remember "the pen is mightier than the sword" and even safer when done from a computer.

True enough.

A non-lethal weapon would have been nice; taser, pepper spray, even a baton........

If he could have deployed it.

Anyone that sleeps with a loaded weapon is a looney.

BTW, revolvers don't have safeties.

He should still be able to defend himself without a weapon of any type before taking on the task of community patrols. If you are going to put yourself in that postion be prepared for that position.

More nonsensical babble that shows you know nothing about guns except what you read in the anti op-eds...

True

The best safety lies between your ears..

I wonder if those armchair experts (Not you Colpy) would know ...without googling...why the old cowboys used to carry their revolvers with only 5 rounds instead of six and the modern ones do not...(Ruger having what I think the best system with the transfer bar.

I have no idea what sort of gun has what. All I know is he admits to sleeping with it under his pillow with no safety whatever. My contention, is the persons who acquire weapons meant mostly for killing others of their own kind and for no other reasons, are all loonies.

I never claimed to know much about guns, except they kill!! Is there something special about guns that some deify them??

Hardly likely. I've been hunting since I was big enough to pack. That's decades, you pompous jackass.
Besides, I didn't say I wouldn't kill if it was necessary, so if you're going to ASSume stuff about someone, ASSume it about someone else.
Did you know that a bear can travel 30-40 mph...that 50 feet in one second....
Ya think, Sherlock? And besides, since when is an unarmed 17 year old kid as threatening as a bear?
I do believe that you would fail the test for wilderness carry permit for handgun,
Believe whatever you want, but you're wrong again. I must admit my wife is better with handguns than I am and I'm no slouch, but you wouldn't know how well either of us could do.

Whoop de doo for you. You have no idea what I can do yet you ASSume to know anyway. That's just plain foolish.
BTW, your piddly little popgun would be no match for my Eagle.

True enough.

Like I said to Sleepy, if it were me, the kid might have gotten a rap on the noggin with the handgun if it came to that. I doubt it would, though.
