PHOTOS: Intense snowstorm in the Prairies could be record-breaking
The first weekend of fall in the Prairies is looking more like December with arctic air funnelling down from the north and widespread winter storm warnings.
Even though it is not unusual for Alberta and Saskatchewan to see snow in September, the extreme snowfall that is targetting this region has the potential to be record-breaking.
The intense winter storm in southern Rockies and southern parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan is due to upsloping snow and a Colorado low south of the border, which is relatively slow-moving and could bring over 50 hours of continuous snowfall in some areas.
