In my opinion, everyone wants a piece of that....but I've been there...no fun.

But to each his own.

I have another question (excuse me for being cheeky)- HOW is it that Dion who 5 minutes after the election was deemed unfit to lead the Liberals, but is now suddenly deemed fit to be Prime Minister? (or am I being stupid?)

Actually, Jack Layton also Labelled Stephane Dion in that light. The radio station
out here has been playing Laytons statement as a punctuation mark (sound bite)
all morning. If it comes up on their site, I'll take it on here....It goes like this:

"If you're not capable of being the leader of the opposition for the last two&1/2yrs,
what the Hell are you doing running for PM?" and this was suppose to have been
yelled across the floor of Parliment by Layton at Dion.

Dion wasn't deemed unfit. He did not win the election so he agreed to step down (his own choice) and he is still intending to step down and the date is set. Dr. Dion will be leader until the Liberals pick a new one.

I don't know if either of the two guys running (Iggy or Rae) for the Liberal leadership could win an election but I think Justin needs to age for a few years. The Liberals have to pick a leader with less baggage than the two who are currently running.

Harpers toast.

The knives are out in the back rooms.
Harper never was popular within the party ranks.

As to the Conservative party.
Life goes on.
The Lib's, Con's and dippers will all be around for awhile yet.

And if Harper had a real mandate from the people, this situation wouldn't have come up.

He does have a real mandate from Canadians......his is the ONLY national party, and aside from the Separatists, who wish simply to destroy us, he holds a clear majority.

It is extremely obvious whom Canadians want to lead them........(Separatists are Quebecois, not Canadians.....just ask them) It is obvious whom Canadians want to lead them.....and that is Harper and the CPC.

So you replace someone with a questionable mandate with someone with an even more questionable one? Typical Canadian political strategy. :-?

This is just an informal survey to satisfy my curiosity, and anyone else who's curious.

If you were a Conservative last week, are you still a Conservative today?
If you weren't a Conservative last week, are you now a Conservative today?
If you were you a Conservative last week, are you still a Conservative?

Worked this morning(0840P)
I held my nose and voted conservative this time. Last election I voted Liberal in part because the candidate is a friend and we worked together for the BC Liberals. Different candidate this time and there is no way I can support a goof like Dion. Several reasons: He can't even decide which country he is a citizen of, Has no job skills or experience, only changed desks in a classroom. He is also way too far left of center.

I increasingly believe Harper's only choice is to forestall the fall of his gov't by going to the GG and asking (telling) her to suspend Parliament (a request she can not refuse).........and make it clear it will stay suspended until she is willing to dissolve it for a new election.

Then we see who has the support of the people on this.

The BQ would take more seats in Quebec.....thanks to the amoral idiots of the Libs and NDP....

But the Libs and NDP might get wiped out in the RoC.

Or the CPC might get trashed.

This needs to go to the people.

Only national party? I think you will find that there are three national parties in Canada. If he held a clear majority, he wouldn't be facing defeat.

It is extremely obvious whom Canadians want to lead them........(Separatists are Quebecois, not Canadians.....just ask them) It is obvious whom Canadians want to lead them.....and that is Harper and the CPC.

Last I heard, Quebec was still part of Canada.

She can also refuse to accept the prime ministers resignation and order all the mps to find a way to make the present government work- and coalition or no they're bound by her decision.
