Vanni, this is a coup de tat. Such powers should never be invoked, unless the government is setting up gas chambers or something that the people need protection from in dramatic fashion. All this for an economic plan? That's preposterous. What next, is the Queen of England going to step in and bring the coalition down?

My hope is this action leads to a huge decline in support for those three parties. Their lack of scruples is unprecedented.

This is the nature of parliamentary minority governments...

...and what scruples did the Cons show us when their mandate was to present a coherent plan for the economic crisis, but instead resorted to partisan hackery?

When they were to provide some level of detail on an economic stimulus, they instead decided to take cheap shots at funding for political parties, women in high paid civil service positions that Cons feel should not make as much money as their male counterparts, and civil servants' right to strike...

The opposition has every right to question their ability to govern when they failed so miserably on a key economic update...

Having refused to work with the rest of parliament and then to have bundled into the FU three items that the Cons knew none of the opposition would agree to seems a little more than suspect to me...

But then I haven't had my tonic yet, and I may be a little surly because of it...:angryfire:

No, they're not clever at all, but they are political, and know very well how to shift blame...

I had a good look at Hansard and it seems like the opposition has been trying for months to get answers out of Harper and his crew about some kind leadership, or some some kind of stimulus for the economy. This action was almost a last resort.

The conservative party will be around for a good while yet but Harper's days are probably numbered.

The conservative party will always be around, and rightfully so. I am not a Tory but I respect the opinions of fiscal conservatives. Social conservatives, I hope they fade away but its unlikely. I do support the end of this government, as Harper overstepped his boudneries and deserves what he gets.

We aren't even in a recession at this point. They haven't failed at all, let alone miserably. Did someone expect them to solve the global financial crisis? Canada's in better shape than most. The crooks want to raid the trough to buy some votes in Ontario. They should be ashamed of themselves. This won't be forgotten.

I doesn't matter what he did, its primarily what he failed to do. He didn't bring an acceptable plan to parliament. He also used the pending economic crisis to introduce unacceptable policies that are being rejected by almost everyone. This guy has to go and that is the end of it. It demonstrates that the opposition can unite. We don't have a recession and that is true, but the problem is coming right at us Harper is seen to be doing nothing. It is his attitude that has caused the problem and now there is no turning back. When you are playing bull**** poker one should always bring a fan, something Harper forgot

She would be lynched. The idea is to get rid of "One Man Show" Harper. His arrogance is his undoing. Having said that, I think Vanni is on to something. I smell a rat and it is coming from the Con side. I think Harper just found out what the ruling elite are up to and does not want to get left holding the bag. Bail out! Bail out! or as Monty Python would say "Run Away! Run Away!"

PO knew it but would not admit he knew like everything else he is involved with along with his buds that form PO & Co.

This is just an informal survey to satisfy my curiosity, and anyone else who's curious.

If you were a Conservative last week, are you still a Conservative today?
If you weren't a Conservative last week, are you now a Conservative today?
If you were you a Conservative last week, are you still a Conservative?
If you weren't a Conservative last week, are you still not a Conservative?

I have another question (excuse me for being cheeky)- HOW is it that Dion who 5 minutes after the election was deemed unfit to lead the Liberals, but is now suddenly deemed fit to be Prime Minister? (or am I being stupid?)
