A couple of days ago I said it was colder here than a witches t i t, I was wrong it is now even colder.
-20 °C, or as I prefer -5°F. Not a thrill for anyone who has to go out in it, but I don't .Hubby and I have a new book and because it one we both like I'm reading it aloud . So we are indoors warm and toasty. The only saving grace for this nasty cold weather is that it is sunny and bright.

Right now in Kelowna BC it -10 the normal temp for this time of year is around+3 and

mid week next week.
When I go to complain I think about living in Peace River Alberta for a few years.
Minus fifty or more was not unheard of. This I can handle don't like it but I can
handle this. Can prune fruit trees in this weather though
In Nanaimo right now, the temperature is sitting at around minus ten. It is warming up a bit but we'll likely get some snow in the next few days, turning to rain in a day or two. Rain is nice.. I love rain.:smile:
It warmed up a little. It's -29C from -32C earlier this AM. Windchill makes it feel like -40C but it's a cloudless sky.
What's happened to the good old days when normal prairie winter temperature was 40 below without any wind chill?
Prairie in winter without wind?
No I didn't mean without wind, I meant the actually thermometer reading was 40 below- probably 60 wind chill temp.
We still get that.
It was just announced on the T.V. news tonight that the U.S. is getting the worst cold snap they've had in 40 years. We all know that is utter and unadulterated bullsh*t. It wasn't that many years that orange groves in Florida were freezing.
If there were a brass monkey stretching from Edmonton to Calgary, at -40*C it would be about 337 m shorter than it would be at +20*C.

Yes, and knowing the temperature difference and the shrinkage, you can determine the distance between the two cities.
