As long as it serves the same function. I got welders flash (very similar) one time, most constant pain I've ever had. Stung like hell to have them open and even worse when they were closed so sitting in a dark room for a few days was the most comfortable way to combat it. One of those things that only takes one time before there is real determination to never have it happen again.

Heading back the other way now #Juan, down to 6C and heavy rain and wind, it wasn't bad here this morning I took a walk for an hour and 20 minutes. Actually up here we can't expect any better for 6 more weeks.

:roll:Yesterday we got about a foot of snow. It has been snowing since early this morning. We/ve accumulated fifteen or sixteen inches
and it is still snowing. The weatherman is promising warmer temperatures and rain tomorrow and then solid rain for the next few days. The snow is so wet, a big scoop of it weighs a ton so I don't feel like shoveling it. I'll probably get a note from the mail guy telling us he can't deliver mail because we haven't cleared a path for him.......

yes, how wierd is this, our backyard looks like a winter wonderland. i hate it, can't find my garden,
but the dogs have a blast back there chasing each around.
i hope it rains hard when it starts, so this stuff leaves just as fast as it came.

nothing on the west coast where my daughter lives, and almost nothing in alberni, unless they are
getting it today.

but its not cold at all.

guess mother nature just didn't want us to feel left out, well, i'd like to make a snowlady out of her
about now.

Weird? It's winter and it's Canada.

Snowlady? How do you plan on hollowing out the head? Mellon baller?

I've lived in the Gabriola/Nanaimo area for the last twenty years and I've never seen anything even close to
this much snow.

Petros, why don't you tell us how you hollowed out your own head?

I was born in Powell River, and have lived back on the Sunshine Coast fo 22 years. I too, have never seen snow this late. Not even late January. Rain, wind storms, but not snow. Very, very weird.

My crocuses, and early buds on many bushes are now suffering. :) just not used to this.

And of course I have out of town guests arriving tomorrow. They are from the Rockies so they will feel right at home. Actually I am blaming the snow on them. ;)

We had a whole front yard full of crocuses and snowdrops that are now under a foot and a half of snow. This weather is why I left Edmonton....

Record snow hits Nanaimo

It was a record-setting snowfall in Nanaimo on Sunday but business continued on as usual.

By The Daily News (Nanaimo) December 15, 2008

With 33 centimetres of fresh snow overnight Saturday, the 36 centimetres on the ground Sunday set a daily record in Nanaimo. The pileup beat the Dec. 14 record of 19.8 centimetres in 2000.
Never say never.

Never say never.
I said it has never snowed like this in February in the last 22 years and I believe I am correct on that point.
December is mid winter for us and snow happens in December and January, but as mentioned never saw it in February before. If there is a record for snow in Feb here, someone can dig that up.

maybe they will survive, temps have not been that cold. And snow is an insulator at times.

Oh come now I have had tee times delayed in May waiting for the snow to melt in the lower mainland . Sure snow is rare in February but certainly not unheard of .

As mentioned I've lived on the Sunshine Coast for 22 years. For some growing years, I lived in Powell River and at times in Vancouver. Even at that Vancouver weather is not our weather. I have never seen snow in our communities by the ocean, in late February for the past 22 years, let alone May. Where in the lower mainland did you see snow waiting to melt in May? Are you referring to the North Shore? or Coastal Mountain areas or Hope etc? because those areas are not the same as the area where I live. And if in the annals of weather history snow happened here, like I said, I don't know of 100 years ago or 60 years ago.
If you experienced snow? exactly which town and what year would be helpful.
As for winter 2008, I remember a good dump of snow and losing some plants that year. I have lived Northern B.C., Manitoba, the Rockies and a few other places. Right now I live in Davis Bay, almost sea level. It is a form of banana belt area. And yes we get some winter, and some snow, but snow days do not ever count more than a few weeks in my area, if that. I believe this area has the mildest climate in winter - other than maybe some Southern Gulf Island or Victoria - than in all of Canada.

Now, rain, is another story. :) Rain Nov-February is definitely going to happen on and off.

Are you #1Juan?
Well, I think the subject is the same. :)
