I wonder if Americans realise what the word "trump" means in British English.

Def Leppard upset over Donald Trump's plan to introduce them at state fair

Def Leppard star Vivian Campbell is investigating reports suggesting his band will be introduced onstage at the Iowa State Fair by Donald Trump.

Rumours suggest the U.S. Republican presidential candidate will be at the State Fair next month on the same day the rockers are in town for a gig - and he'll appear before them.

CNN have confirmed the reports, prompting Campbell to speak out.

He says, "I really, really, really hope that there's no truth to this rumour. Def Leppard have never been a political band, and if we were, I for one wouldn't be associating my name with this clown."

Trump is making headlines in the U.S. after announcing his candidacy for President last month. The tycoon upset Latinos by claiming many Mexican immigrants to America are "rapists" who brought drugs and crime into the U.S. He also upset Senator John McCain over the weekend by challenging his status as a war hero.

Oops. Trump duped into retweeting pic of murderer

Donald Trump really has to start being more careful about who he retweets.
He was tricked again Monday into retweeting a photo of what he thought was a Vietnam vet supporter. It was actually the photo of Jeffrey MacDonald, a former U.S. army doctor who murdered his pregnant wife and two daughters in 1979.
"My bad *** Vietnam vet dad has balls too which is why he's voting Trump!" Trump retweeted from what he thought was a supporter. But the photo attached was that of the infamous MacDonald, who is currently serving three life sentences.
Trump has since removed the tweet.
It's not the first time Trump has been duped.
In 2014, he retweeted a photo of a pair of notorious British serial killers after he was told they were fans who recently died.

someone new would be a breath of fresh air, I would like to see someone who obviously has had a great
education, speaks well, understands people, has a passion to 'help' others, not just himself, and a quiet strong personality, who doesn't need the limelight, but loves to work, and work hard, someone focused on the good of the country, not just his party, someone who sees both sides of the coin, and doesn't vote against things just to be on the other side, we see that in Canada all the time, whatever one side says, the other side must take the opposite stand, how the hell can that ever help the country, it is just trying to get votes.

Exactly the type of person I too would like to see, talloola. There is about as much chance of that happening as there is for world peace.

I think the best people to be president wouldn't touch that job with a ten foot pole.
I thought Lew MacKenzie would make a great candidate for PM and really hoped he might enter the race. He chose to stay away and as much as that is a loss for our country, it says much more about the integrity of the man.

I think the Stanley cup winning team complete with coaches should run the country for the next year,
till the next winner comes along, a real team, have learned to work together with the help of their
coaches who encourage every movce, and step in when things need correcting, yep, I think I've found
the answer.
(of course the American and other foreign players would have to vote to be a Canadian for that year,
not a problem, they won the cup, they can do anything.) lol
