Now if the coalition is restarted and gets a plan to govern ready and Harper tries his political party funding reform trick again and the opposition turns his budget down I really think the GG will need to consider giving someone else the job of governing as Harper keeps pulling the plug on parliament and obviosly can't handle the job - Not a LEADER!
Harper lacks the people skills to head up a minority government. I think it's about time for the party to serve him notice.
The fact is simple......prorogation is a completely normal action by the PM, used to reset the government's agenda....the simple fact is prorogation has traditionally been used regularly, and there is nothing unusual or questionable about it at all.
The only reason it was seen as out of the ordinary last January was because of the very recent election......and Harper used it (improperly, IMHO) to dodge the coalition bullet.......I do NOT blame him, however, any decent Canadian would do whatever was necessary to keep the idiots from the Liberals and NDP from handing power to the seditious BQ.
Yeah - nothing is ever his responsibility...it's always the Liberals, the Liberal biased media, the Liberal appointed public servants, or some other Liberal/lefty thing....
Can we really afford any more elections?, which would be the final result. I say let Harper run out his term and then the people can decide. Whichever way it turns out suits me - they are all tarred with the same brush.
Colpy, I believe Harper cannot prorogue parliament again for a minimum 1 year.. If that is the case an a coalition is formed again to take control the GG will have to consider handing them power.. That said I would prefer it not happen but that always remains a possibility...
Now to your second statement.. WHERE is proof that the BQ would ever have had power handed to them by the Liberals and NDP ? Just because it your mind you saw the coalition as a threat does not mean power would have been handed over.. NO more or no less then when Harper uses the BQ for their purposes in the house.. What is good for the goose is good for the gander..

Necessary to whom? If you're waiting for Harper to suddenly become the messiah I have some waterfront property in Saskatchewan for you. These politicians are all the same. Why should we sit back and wait for them to make the next move. Let's make them accountable. Hold their feet to the fire at all times.
The proof is in the pudding, so to speak....the BQ does NOTHING that does not benefit them as a party, or (in their view) Quebec's independence.......therefore promises were definitely made to the BQ to get their support.

THUNDER BAY - Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff complains that that "Shutting down Parliament is the arrogance of power", in an Op-ed. However in his efforts to reach out to Canada, the Liberals have stumbled into another political pothole. It seems that the changes made in Ignatieff's office made late in 2009 have not made an impact on the political skill level inside the office of the Leader of the Opposition.
Once again the Liberal leader is falling right in to the rhetoric served up by the Conservatives that he is "just visiting". While the Liberals complain that the Prime Minister is taking an extended vacation, it is Michael Ignatieff who is out of the country vacationing in France.
The Prime Minister is "vacationing" in Ottawa spending days working in his office.

So let me get this straight - parliament closes for the Christmas vacation - and Iggy uses this time to go on vacation - ergo he's a chump. Harper works during the planned vacation time to work, and then shut down parliament when everyone else is expected to come back to work - and he is golden.
I am a Party member and think Harper is doing just fine. Let's see if every other poster here will state their affiliation. I seriously doubt many have the guts to do so.
I have never been a member of any political Party, although I did some work for the provincial Liberals when I was in university.
I'm an anarchist. No party politics - no use for politics but I can criticize and make fun of them. If we actually lived in a democracy, I might participate but as long as we live in a corporate dictatorship, our "democracy" is a sham.
