October 15, 2011 BNO" -- WASHINGTON, D.C. : U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday announced the deployment of around 100 U.S. special operations troops to Uganda to fight the rebel group known as the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA).

In a letter to Congress, Obama informed that in the next months further U.S. troops will be shipped out to other African countries as well, including South Sudan, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Something to think about..........

War breeds war. That is all it can do. War does nothing but devour valuable resources and destroy precious lives for the sole purpose of perpetuating itself. As Randolph Bourne wrote, "War is the health of the State." War is a mechanism used by the ruling elites of the State to coerce and control the people, so it becomes essential that whenever one war is complete, another is instigated elsewhere so that the mechanism keeps running.
On the other hand, peace breeds prosperity. If War is indeed the “health of the State,” then Peace can be nothing less than the “health of the People.” Being at peace means valuable natural resources can be preserved and used at home where we need them most. Being at peace means young fathers and mothers can live and enjoy free trade, not only among themselves but with the world, instead of dying capriciously and unnecessarily, for political gain or to line the pockets of those who profit from their sacrifice.

***********War Breeds War, Peace Breeds Prosperity by Lee Wrights -- Antiwar.com

You should really read up on the Lord's Resistance Army and its leader, Joseph Kony.

War....including mass murder, mutilation, use of rape and food as weapons, sexual slavery of prisoners, and the widespread capture, branding and use of children as soldiers, is already there.

Sometimes the only way to stop the horror is kill the monsters.

Sometimes the only way to stop the horror is kill the monsters.

..........and create even more monsters in the process. That guarentees that WAR and profit can continue indefinately. Is that the kind of world you want to live in??

We might be smarter to find these "monsters" and bring them to civilized justice.....and set an example for those that still believe in war and killing. Sadly far too many in so called civilized nations love war and killing just as much. And actually believe they are justified in their views.

But that kind of civilized justice has been bi passed and war, targetted assassinations and other vulgar methods have taken over.

Suspect it will be a very long time before anything resembling peace or simply a non war state. Forget about peace. No profit in that.8O

There will never be peace in the world.

It is not in human nature......evil walks among us, and must be destroyed....or it destroys.

Either way, peace is an illusion.........few, if any, have been so fortunate to live their lives without violence of some kind...

Of course you have a point. Human nature being what it is.etc. There are many who have not been touched by violence of wars.

BUT......that does not mean we should not keep trying. who knows......mankind might just wake up one day and realize how foolishly over aggressive he has been. And also realize how stupid he was lying about the reasons he went to war.

Uganda and its neighbours hailed Saturday a US offer to send combat troops to help battle a brutal regional rebel force whose leaders are international war-crimes fugitives.
"We welcome this gesture -- it has been well overdue," said Uganda's acting foreign minister Henry Okello Oryem.
US President Barack Obama said Friday that 100 troops would help Uganda track down Lord's Resistance Army rebel chief Joseph Kony and other senior LRA leaders, but warned they would not lead the fighting themselves.
"For 20 years, the government of Uganda has been pleading with our American and European friends to help in the LRA problem, because these are international terrorists," Oryem said.
"We wanted our friends to help in providing technical support -- such as intelligence -- because they have the best."
Fighting between the rebels and Ugandan forces in a 20-year war claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people and saw nearly two million displaced.

Afghanistan: America's 9/11 War

Both the US media and the Obama administration continue to describe the October 2001 invasion of Afghanistan as a war of "self-defense'.

The legal argument used by Washington and NATO to invade Afghanistan was that the September 11 attacks constituted an undeclared "armed attack" "from abroad" by an unnamed foreign power, and that consequently "the laws of war" apply, allowing the nation under attack, to strike back in the name of "self-defense".

To this date, however, there is no proof that Al Qaeda was behind the 9/11 attacks. Neither is there evidence that Afghanistan as a Nation State was behind or in any way complicit in the 9/11 attacks.

The Afghan government in the weeks following 9/11, offered on two occasions, through diplomatic channels to deliver Osama bin Laden to US justice, if there were preliminary evidence of his involvement in the attacks. These offers were refused by Washington.

Ten years later, Afghanistan is a country which has been destroyed. Its economy and institutions are shattered. Its social infrastructure was never rebuilt. What we dealing with is a pretext and justification to commit extensive war crimes against a country which does not, by any stretch of the imagination constitute a threat to the security of America and the Western World.

We bring to the attention of our readers a compendium of selected articles and videos (2010-2011) on Afghanistan which document the causes as well as the dramatic consequences of the US-NATO led war on an impoverished country of Central Asia.

It is our hope that this material will also be useful to college, university and high school students

Afghanistan: America's 9/11 War. Selected articles and videos

Wow. Iraq was even more unjustifiable. Bush and his cronies should be lynched for war crimes.

Obama is Expanding the Empire in Honduras, Too
John Glaser, October 25, 2011

The US government is supporting whatever kind of tyranny it can get its hands on in Honduras, the state and its corporate colluders. The coup government, police, and military are all benefiting from lavish US support and the corporatist feudal drug lords and their private paramilitaries are too.

Psssst! Harper was there in August with Free Trade signing pen in hand. Nice and windy down there and oodles of minerals to exploit with green energy drag lines and metal arc smelters so you can feel happy about having copper wire.

It is not even close to reality other than saying we are an empire. Except for one small thing we have not occupied anyone.
