how the two gov'ts have used the fear/ terrorist issue makes them something to "fear" more than some social misfits .

How long will "terrorism" be the excuse to bring into effect policies that erode at the rights of the populations??

Now that they are penetrating the internet , one is not as free to say what one thinks. ( another freedom being eroded ) This kind of silencing tactic has happened through out history and One would have thought we had all gotten past it. Not so. The basic gov't wants as much control over its population as it always had. Just the tactics have changed.

In that both countries have over reacted - Having common polices on trade etc I have no problem with. Exchange of information on Canadian Citzens as we have seen, Canada does a shxtty job.

And so the cycle moves on its endless round, until the civilization ceases to exist or is taken over by a superior or more powerful civilization.

I don't believe anybody is trying to create a police state. It is just the natural progression as people become more fearful and are willing to give up their own freedom and liberty to feel safe.

Really? Buses and trains have security these days, Canadian border guards can pack sidearms, can't pay cabbies with cash in cities anymore, hospital staff, EMTs, firefighters, etc. need ID tags, internet is monitered for certain keywords, and so on.
But I don't particularly think anyone's trying to bring about a police state either. Well, except for the Gliberals a few years back with their gun control crap.

Doesn't mandatory sentences qualify, if possession of pot will get you jail then overdue parking will do the same thing, billed to you or the taxpayer. Each night making several $100/day for the new private prison authority, sorry I mean 'labor pool' to do the jobs the 'immigrants on visas' refuse to do.

With private road tolls will be accessed via cameras and paid for @ each gas fillup you do. No pay, no gas for that plate #.

I suppose it varies between regions and countries. Cabbies in Vancouver won't accept any more than $20 in cash, I think, so if you are going downtown from the airport, you better have a credit card or something. Not every place requires IDs for first responders, but some do. When I became a firefighter in the Okanagan, we didn't need them, but after a few years we did. Same for EMTs.
I see cams up in streets, these days, too.
It doesn't really bother me much.

I agree with you about some people's paranoia, though. Just the thought of "Big Brother" creates fear in some people.
