Canadian business could not live without the US as almost 90% of Cdn exports go there. We are an economic colony this way. Cdn business is not very global in this regard.
However, life without the US is a physical impossibility.
Along with the US, they are part North America, they are North Americans like us because they speak English. There are no Spanish speaking North Americans.

Maybe the NHL shouldn't have 30 teams??? I'd go for that. Make the talent pool that much more competitive. Nashville? Seriously, minor league teams draw bigger crowds here than they do. Halifax or Moncton could easilly put more asses in the seats than in Nashville or Atlanta. Winnipeg could as well. Hamilton could. Quebec city could. Like Durka said though, the NHL wants revenue, and they don't get that from ticket sales. They need and want television.
