If the Cons had gotten even just equal the difference of popular vote numbers as they did last election, then you could say they had a major victory pulled off against the Liberals. But they didn't. They lost all the way around.

People choose the left because socially the Left is more about equality than the right is. With Canada being so diverse, any party that's more mono focused to right leaning ideals is gonna get punished and the Cons have some seriously extreme views about minority types.
Truth I'm surprised the Bloc did as well as it did this time since it's not exactly minority friendly; then again it doesn't matter outside of Quebec and Quebec is odd anyway.
If the Cons want to be taken seriously, they need to not only have a fiscal platform that appeals, but a SOCIAL one, too.
It shouldn't be that hard, but it is, because anyone not white or straight or religious tens to frighten the current Conservative party majority.
You obviously don't understand how the system works. There's 338 seats, 170 required for a majority. I lied I said 3/4 when in fact it was only 71% of the way to majority and a lot more to a minority win. I also erred in saying they picked up 22 seats when in fact they increased to 26 more seats. I can't make it any simpler than that. Perhaps a little humility is in order!
