Kind of hard to do for several reasons..
First the raving religious will make stupid comments which the liberal party owned CBC will blow all out of proportion.
Second there are way too many people that have no clue what fiscal responsibility means. Thousands of them think if they make the minimum payment on one credit card with a cash advance on another card means they have money to spend. Much like all our lefty politicians.
Third until there is a new method of representation that is area or number of communities represented the vote rich Toronto and Montreal areas will always override the rest of the country.
I don't put too much stock in this "left" and "right" shit. Liberals and Conservatives are pretty much interchangeable in most of their platforms.
Wrong. Reform destroyed the Conservative party and it's no longer electable.
I hear you. If ALL of Canada was given a reason to vote 'withe the lefties' the Conservative Party wouldn't have to exist, but that's not the case. Who's issue is that? Glass houses and such.
Yet it's good enough to claim the Conservatives did well/better this election?

Though I do agree that Liberal and Conservative are interchangeable by times; nowadays you have the added parties of the NDP, Green and Bloc to throw into the mix; all left leaning.
Extreme right - like the stupid PPC - won't fly in Canada, and Conservative is as far right as you can get. Conservatives need a more middling ground party that still has Con core values but more social positive sights.
Aka the "Old" party.
I agree with most of this, save that while the Left might pay minimum on our card, etc, the Right won't even pay on the first card, cut using the second card and give the parents who own the cards tax breaks for not having the cards anymore to use.
Yet the popular vote was for Scheer ya fukking idiot.

The Canadian election system is broken
By the numbers, it wasn't, not by a long goddamn shot.

But I do agree, the system is broken and needs to be fixed.
How many goddamn votes would the Conservative Party need to make you happy? It would have take a bloody miracle for a party so far down as they to completely recover in a single term. He was 3/4 of the way there, what more do you expect?

There's one basic reason why the "left" parties in Canada generally get more votes than the "right". Left is good for the people who expect the Gov't to do everything for them and charge the cost up for the future. There's a general feeling of entitlement that grows larger every year.
