Because those are not causal indicators of economic performance.

Both can be due to changes in population and spending habits.

lol Economic performance in this household depends greatly on things like spending and population. We don't spend as much as last year = better performance than last year.

Do you repeat the exact same thing at parties?

Is that your idea of fun? Lol

Anyway, cheer up.

Good news is on the way!

The Liberals narrowly hold the edge in the CBC Poll Tracker, with 32.9 per cent support against 32.4 per cent for the Conservatives. The New Democrats stand at 24.3 per cent, with the Greens at 4.8 per cent support and the Bloc Québécois at 19.3 per cent in Quebec.

This has a big impact on the overall seat count, which now gives the Liberals 127 seats to 124 for the Conservatives and 85 for the NDP. The projected edge of 10 seats for the Liberals over the Conservatives in Ontario makes the difference.

In polls any difference less than 1% is pretty much meaningless- it's generally less than the degree of accuracy of the poll!

None of this is directly proportional with performance which is measured by gross GDP growth.

If you factor in the margin of error to their extremes we are still looking at roughly the same outcome.

Harper calls Globe story a lie

Canadian Defined ‏@CanadianDefined

@bcbluecon Just reported that the USA asked the PM to halt & check security issues with Syrians. 2 weeks later it opened after check.

@bcbluecon @pmharper did what any PM would have done when requested by allies. . @JustinTrudeau & @TomMulcairPLQ owe Harper a big apology

The Prime Minister’s Office did not vet refugee applications for the most vulnerable classes of Syrian refugees this spring, says Conservative Leader Stephen Harper, and no applications were subject to his own direct approval or refusal.

“Political staff are never involved in approving refugee applications,” Harper told a packed room in Vancouver on Thursday afternoon.

Harper was responding to a report in Thursday’s Globe and Mail, which alleged that the PMO instructed immigration officials to stop processing refugee applications for vulnerable Syrians during the spring, a few months before the body of 3-year-old Alan Kurdi washed up on a Turkish beach. The reason for the halt was not clear, but the Conservatives have confirmed that it was indeed ordered.

I wonder how much he paid to have a packed room full of people his handlers vetted so they wouldn't ask him any embarrassing questions?

Casting aspersions on somebody who says things about your hero you don't like is the sign of an infantile mind. A typical tactic of conservatives.
BTW, it is not paranoia if it is true. It is a matter of history and has been reported that the Cons vet their audience to avoid embarrassing questions and if someone sneaks in an asks one they are bodily thrown out. Educate yourself as well as grow up.

The economy is ****ed because of Harper.

The economy is doing quite well and it is largely because of Harper. Probably would have done OK under the Liberals with a real leader and would be in depression by now if we were so unfortunate as to have dippers mismanage the economy.

Re: Harper calls Globe story a lie

There is a problem either way for Harper in the minds of the public
Perception right or wrong says most Canadians knew about the
Duffy deal and a host of other problems. Claiming this is not true
might in fact be true its just the PMO has been seen as untruthful
far too often and people will believe what they want
In short the 30% who support the Tories will believe him the
majority will not. This has the potential to be very emotional and who
knows what happens from here

National security is a matter of the utmost importance and I'm sure Mr Harper has a very good reason for cicumventing established proceedure. I'm also sure the Harper government will not compromise that same national security with full disclosure of the particulars at this time of national peril. Surely you can understand the need for complete secrecy at this juncture when the Russian army is even now rowing its barges up the St Lawrence seaway intent on breeching continental integrity so very important to the welfare of so many angry and distraught global citizens. I trust the PMO to do the right thing and skate arround the subject untill his honour is once again safely installed in office and the security issue has passed harmlessly away. God bless his honour Steve the Harp.

Now Harper is rigging elections? The desperation on the part of the unimaginative is sort of sad.

Both Mulcair and Trudeau's strategy for the last two years is to find scandal rather than prove themselves worthy successors.

I'll stick with the Devil I know rather than vote for a Liberal or NDP successor.

To damned risky in my opinion.

I have a mortgage to pay.

There are petitions going around that are asking the UN to monitor the election because a lot of people think he is going to rig it.

With that kinda logic we'll be stuck with the azzhole until he dies.

I think common sense would suggest that Harper will be too busy during the next few days to be rigging elections! You think he may have a keg of beer outside the polling stations? :) :)
