Of course they do.

Not just anyone can call themselves a pilot, and gain employment as such, or collect tax breaks as a pilot.

I can see why you would want to shift the conversation to me though. I can only imagine how being a special interest shill, would feel embarrassing to you.

From the Federal government? I wonder just what kind of handouts are given in NS where we eventually settled, that aren't given out by Ottawa in BC? My family moved for work, not handouts.

One problem that a change in Equalization should address. Those that work - 12 -16 weeks a year and EI the rest. Move where the work is.

Are there legislated requirements (At any level of gov't. Eligibility to work in Canada aside) associations, or regulations, that exclude anyone from employment in those fields?

Or benefit them in anyway, that is not available to the general populace?

Yes. At least as many as exclude you from volunteering as a firefighter.

Don't tell me, tell durry. I moved me and mine from BC to Alberta for work, so I know what that's like. Obviously durry has been raised with a silver spoon in his mouth and really has no idea what it means to go hungry or to have to pick up and leave your loved ones behind to find work so that you and yours DON'T go hungry.

That's what my parents did. They were never on unemployment. Mom stopped teaching for a while when we were kids, but went back to work when I started grade 4. I've never been on unemployment. School, work, school, and now career.

It's just an idiotic talking point Durry uses against anyone he perceives from the big bad East.

Qualifications

Just like I have to have welding tickets to be legally allowed to weld on certain materials, structures, and so on. Furthermore, my licenses, permits and certs, make me distinctive, ie: special status. Which means I can right off certain things, get tax breaks, and purchase things under my business, in ways others can't.

BTW: I didn't see anything about waitressing in there. Do you have some legislation to back up that claim?

That's in your small town. It's hardly the national standard, as I have already proven. I won't ask you for the name of your town, to verify your town doesn't have a list of requirements.

Never heard of it. Must be an eastern thing. Here in Alberta, VFD's fall under the jurisdiction of municipalities and department's by themselves don't have alot of autonomy. Our association has membership in the Welcome to Alberta Fire Fighters Association and Alberta Fire Chiefs Association
