Re #91.

What do you mean "As if"?

Are you aiming for the Guinness Book of World Records for shortest response in a thread?

I mean that it's a bogus assertion that didn't deserve a whole lot beyond what it got.... as if ... nothing more nothing less.

"(but Obamaphile is original with me)"

Sure!!

If it were you would have had enough presence of mind (brains?) come up with "Obamaphobe" as well, instead of the very pedestrian "Obama Hater".

okay... I have to ask...

I can see why people are comparing Obama's bow to Bush flouncing around hand in hand with the Saudi king. Both are actions on the part of the men. But what the hell does the shoe throwing incident have to do with it? Bush didn't throw a shoe at himself. It wasn't his faux pas... it was something done to him. I don't see the parallel. Am I missing something?

Yukon Jack, Obama hater sounds much more strong and forceful than Obamaphobe. ‘Obama hater’ expresses the contempt, the hatred the far right feels towards Obama in all its raw emotion.

I like Obama hater much better than Obamaphobe.

Show me a world leader/head of state who got elected to office by 69,456,897 votes.

Much as I dislike Obama and everything he stands for, he earned his post.

He should bow to one, but to the one who earned more votes than he.

Does that mean that you admit you never had the inventiveness and and expertise in the English language to come up with something as beautifully snappy and clever as "OBAMAPHOBE"?

Northern Ontario,
Sure that is tame, karrie, but that is the favorite sobriquet the far right likes to use for Obama supporters, which is around 60% of Americans, as of now (I don’t consider myself an Obama supporter incidentally; he is too conservative for my tastes).

DaSleeper evidently frequents the American extreme right websites. Obamaton is a favorite word over there, it is not original with DaSleeper (but Obamaphile is original with me).
When you miss a point.....you certainly do by by a wide margin....

"Obamaphobe would mean someone scared of Obama, which does seem to fit most of these...."

Sorry, TenPenny, but "phobe" means "hate" not "fear of".

Any dictionary in print or on the internet would confirm that.

Another SirJosephPorter original.

No further comment needed to illustrate the idiocy of this statement.

What if shaking the hand is considered offensive in that country? I know that there are some countries out there that the people there will not shake your hand as it is considered offensive, and it could be the same there.

In this case shaking hands was not offensive. Obama took his hand and bowed.

DaSleeper, Obama is very popular in Canada. Also in Europe. The reception he got during his trip to Europe was comparable to that of a rock star. That was true even when he was a candidate; he got an audience of 250,000 when he went to Germany as a candidate.

Obama showed UP at a rock concert! That is why 250,000 people were there... not to see him.
