Ahh yes, I DID read it, but I was leery of the speculative impression I got from it, seeing it elsewhere sort of cemented it in my head a bit better, I certainly wasn't trying to pretend that I found it first, I was more just hoping that there might not be anything to it and seeing it again made it "real" enough to convince me

Does anybody or any company have any serious idea how to stop this oil leak, or will it just have to empty out till it covers the coast of the British Isles?

Last choice unfortunately if/when the sea floor starts 'leaking'. You could be looking at 10 years of more.

The ultimate solution is to build a relief well. But that won't be completed until August. I think the relief well has a high probability of working.

"And you say, "Sorry about the spill but this is a great time for me to snivel about the USA". lmao"

I find it both ironic and thrilling watching Americans along that stretch complain and boo-hoo about how OIL has caused them so much discomfort and `pain` in thier once cushy life-styles.

Shame about the wild-life though.

Yep, I don't give a crap about the poor yanks along the coast. Its the wild life that makes me mad.

That will look good on the Brits. Today they condemned obama for giving BP a hard time.

BP buys Google, Yahoo search words:Is it to keep people from real news on Gulf oil spill disaster?

not stating that the source is a bastion of truth, but this would NOT surprise me- no wonder google has been less helpful for keeping track of the news on this mess

Yeah....just out'a curiosity, I looked further into this story. It has been
picked up and reprinted several times. Pretty much word for word...

I looked to see what the oldest source of this story was, to see if I
could figure out who published it first, & I think I found it.

That would be the examiner.com (National).....

Isn't that the rag that we use to see while waiting in line at the
grocery stores with the stories about Elvis & Bigfoot & Aliens???

This is from early June 6th: BP buys Google, Yahoo search words:Is it to keep people from real news on Gulf oil spill disaster?

Am I thinking of the wrong magazine?

How about the people on this board come up with what becomes the new official public domain name for the soon to be 'banned word'. We are pretty creative in that area as it is, should be a slam dunk.

Oh, yeah, be on the look-out for land speculators in the Hudson Bay area, I might have let it slip that the whole bay is open should the Gulf become a little smokey for a hundred years or so, and millions are looking for a home (preferably together). Seriously, one stipulation, the find Mr. Martin's steamships and have them filled with money before they sail up the east coast in their boats.
I never said the only housing would be an igloo for the first winter.

(BEWARE OF CHEAP IMITATION S THAT BLOW AWAY DURING A BLIZZARD)

(BEWARE OF CHEAP IMITATION S THAT ARE NOT POLAR BEAR PROOF)

Little bit of work (20 years) and their new totally secure fishing pond is complete.

I also said we should feed the dead to the bears as they do not make good fish food and the ground is too hard to dig into because of all the diamonds in the rock. Considering what happened in their old home, having the oil deposits there made into diamonds saves the problem of anybody doing a repeat. The natural rock is only slightly softer so no gold strike (come in make big mess, leave for others to clean-up), build a long term economy.

I also told them we would add extra oxygen to the water in winter and feed the fish stocks so harvests are at the max every year.

Really what are the odd that there could be millions looking for long term accommodation. Two coats each , one woman for each man. Expect a lot of babies after that first long, dark winter. lol

OK. Then it's settled - Obama did not create the situation but merely allowed the regulations to stay in place.

In my experience of working for the government, the president does not usually overrule regulatory agencies. While he has the authority to do so, it is only with Congressional oversight and approval. On that basis, I see no grounds for the forum's right wing claim that Obama caused it.

I have not been on this thread and I'm not going to read all 21 pages to see if I am duplicating a post. If you have not seen or tried this, for any of you familiar with my location (Nanaimo, BC - Vancouver Island) try entering it as a place. I suggest this simply because Nanaimo is a port and it is possible a spill like that could happen here. It's not likely but - it's possible. We do live on the ocean.

Subject: BP Oil Spill... just how big is it?

Interesting to see -
To put the sheer size of the BP oil spill into perspective, these guys have created a program to let you measure it against the land mass surrounding your home town. Click on the link, then enter your town, and province in the location box top of page, and 'move' the oil spill. Scary!

Why is an oil slick on the ocean worse than an oil slicking being burned and dispersed through auto and industry into the air you breath?

It has nothing to do with which one is worse. It has everything to do with showing how vast the spill is. I pointed out Nanaimo - and I know that you are one of the people on here familiar with the area - just because Nanaimo is a port so it gives us a better idea how big this "spill" is. I found it quite amazing to see just how huge it is when I put Nanaimo in because as you can see, it would cover much of the Island and the mainland. There is 40 miles of water between here and the mainland.

The slick on the bottom is bigger still and might get a lot bigger before the pressure equalizes. It may leak for a thousand years. Free oil is not such a good idea afteral I guess.

Now would be a good time to market back yard refineries. You can process as much as you can shovel off the beach. It will be good for the economy. I think a positive outlook is important , especially since there dosen't seem to be anything else to do about it. How about bird washing machines, their time is here. Opportunity calls' let's get behind the new green hydrocarbon economy.

I have always fancied a tar pit in the front lawn to offset the fish pond. There would be the emissions reduction as well, tar pits don't have to be mowed.

Making fuel from oil is pretty damn easy.

Ozark moonshiners and Dallas meth cooks could really make a good income in the diesel market.

Obama couldn't possibly have had anything to do with it, it was purely republican propaganda from the very beginning.

Obama has been in power for less than year and a half. Even if he had given BP the permission to drill on his very first day in office (a practical impossibility), BP wouldn't have been able to have an operational well today, I think it takes a lot longer than that to drill an offshore well.

Yes and they will give you money to operate the shovel and there is cash incentive and taxc breaks all for the environment connections. This has the potential to be the geatest environmental greening event ever undertakin, and we owe it all to the BP cutting edge. Why won't they hire me to work their PR? Greased pelican is a delicasy in many cultures.
