I wonder if you plug in a Commodore without any Y2K downloads (if they even had them) would they still work. I am sure they will.

I had no idea you were part of the non-global warming crowd. Am I correct?

I used to be back when I was a little kid in the 80's when the original Global Warming crap was being dished out..... then it went all hush hush for a while until Gore decided to stick his wang in the pie and shake all over the place. Then it was the same old crap and same old predictions that were supposed to occur in the mid-90's..... they never happened and now you hear no mention of those times..... in their own actions and two-facing I lost faith in their ability to speak the truth and thus, I think the whole thing is a sham.

It is good for us to take care of the planet, and it's a good thing to recycle and reduce the pollution we create, not just for the benifit of other living creatures on this planet, but for ourselves...... but this global warmongering with so many holes in their calculations and ommiting of some key factors has ruined me when it comes to support.

The main factor for this was that when I was growing up, by 1996, New York was supposed to be under 7 meters of ocean because of the ice caps being completely melted at this time. (That would mean where I live, Nova Scotia, we'd be under the same amount of water, if not more.) ~ As a kid, that's something you don't forget, esspecially when it comes to your impending doom in 5-7 years.

It hasn't happened yet, and now they're trying to push it to 30-40 years from now..... now they're talking about global cooling which will push it even further...... AKA: They're full of sh*t and haven't a damn clue what they're talking about.

When I lived on Gabriola Island I had a neighbor who had a computer tech in his house for almost a full day getting his computer ready for Y2K. My neighbor and I had already talked about this earlier and I told him it was nothing but a scam but Hienz wouldn't here of it.......He happily paid close to $3000.00 for his ignorance.

I remember doing a flash BIOS upgrade, which cost....nothing.

LMAO. Agreed.

I am sure though we are going to get a bunch of graphs and numbers thrown at us now.

Back around the 1600s someone figured the calendar was out of whack with the seasons so did an adjustment so the predictions of all the early scholars have to be adjusted accordingly. Can't remember how much it was for sure.........maybe nine or ten days.

Read this in a newspaper today – Could not find the article but this basically covers the Mayan Calendar and end of the world scenario.

http://news.aol.ca/article/Thousands-Expect-Apocalypse-in-2012/275345/

Geryl is certainly not the only one. Searching for "2012 the end of the world" on Google brings up nearly 700,000 hits. More than 6,500 video posts about the day have been posted on YouTube. There are also countless books on the topic, many published in the wake of the success of Daniel Pinchbeck's "2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl," which has been selling thousands of copies each month since it was released last May.
But what do believers think will happen on Dec. 21, 2012? Some say a polar reversal, where the north pole becomes the south, where the sun rises in the west, triggering natural disasters around the world. Others say the date marks a worldwide spiritual awakening.
Experts laugh off these notions. "These prophecies of doom really don't have any basis in what we know about the Maya," said Stephen Houston, an anthropology professor at Brown University and an expert in Maya hieroglyphic writing. "The Maya descriptions barely talk about this event." He said the Mayans saw their calendar coming to an end on the date, but then starting over without any catastrophes.
"Really, it's a conversion of people’s anxieties about our times, and finding some remote mythological precedent or prediction of it," he said. "People like to believe that ancient wisdom is somehow predicting this time of upheaval."
