Had the protesters come out for something (e.g. designating that building a heritage site or something else they could support) instead of coming out against something (i.e. building a mosque there), maybe they could have had much more support, maybe even from some Muslims.

Instead though, this was not about protesting for something, but clearly against something, clearly McCarthyism revised.

Had they come out in favour of designating the building a heritage site and left any mention of the mosque alone, they just might have gotten it. But when they'd made it an anti-Muslim rant, their true colours showed and no one could be fooled anymore.

I like that. the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim faiths are all beautiful religions, and yet many of their adherents fail to see the beauty in the religion of the other, blinded by their prejudices.

So the decision is made. If the protesters have an issue with that, then take it up with the local government via petition or letter writing, but don't take it out bigotedly on a law-abiding religious community.

Not only are their religious beliefs similar, but they also share many customs. Halal and Kosher for example are almost identical.

The top two floors will be a mosque. You know, the ones from which one will be able to overlook the WTC site.

Also, part of one of plane's landing gear is still in the mosque. The building was damaged by the attack on 9/11, leading it to be sold to the mosque developers at a steep loss. Therefore, it's not several blocks from ground zero, it IS ground zero.

Furthermore, the church that was destroyed by the falling rubble of the WTC has been DENIED a permit to rebuild. Hmmm.
