I don't get why people keep pointing out that the U.S. supported the mujahadeen in Afghanistan and then suffered "blowback" for it. How is it "blowback". The expression "what a bunch of ingrates" comes to mind to me way before "blowback".

If you jump into water with a bull shark, you shouldn't be surprised if it gets aggressive. You're invading the shark's turf.

So that analogy sucks. Let's try to make sense of it though.

If you gave the shark the teeth it has, and pumped it full of the testosterone, and encouraged it's aggressive tendencies towards invaders, and then you jump into the water?

Yah, I think you could call what inevitably will happen blowback.

I'm sure some people here know what I mean, even if they won't admit it.

These Muslims just don't know their place. Sure they have rights, but it doesn't mean they have to use them. Its just like how niggers have the right to sit anywhere on the bus, but only an uppity nigger would sit in the front of the bus. In the same logic, Muslims have the right to build a Mosque anywhere they want, but only an uppity Muslim would dare try to build a mosque near ground zero. Don't these Jihadists know that their kind aren't welcome in down town New York. Its an insult to every white person who was killed on 9/11. We all know that American Muslims secretly support the 9/11 hijackers and killing innocent people. That's what being Muslim means; Sharia law, stoning women and hijacking planes, suicide vests.... Its what their religion tells them and these people just blindly follow their religion. We certainly can't have suicide bomber 9/11 sympathizers anywhere near ground zero. Why should regular God fearing Americans allow terrorists, who are continuously trying to blow themselves up, build a Mosque near ground zero?

After 9/11 these terrorist Jihadists lost their right to open victory buildings near this holy ground. Every true red white and blue God Blessed American should put up a sign: "No Muslims allowed in the USA". C'mon admit it, real Americans don't want these suicide bombing, woman stoning, Jihadist Muslims in the USA. Their very presence in the US defiles and taints the USA. Send them all back to Islamastan where they belong.

EAO

I guess this also put Obama in with those as you say send the Nxxx to the back of the bus

Now how does this square with your points made above

Debating makes me feel at times like I am picking on a small child. But you are only small in mind, character and principles

So the The great Speech Meister and he is Obama's words as follows.

President Barack Obama misses on 9/11 mosque - BostonHerald.com

Despite his best attempts at evasion, however, Obama’s underlying support for the Cordoba Initiative’s project came through. “Obama Backs Islam Center Near 9/11 Site” said The New York Times [NYT]’ front-page headline. The New York Post characterized Obama’s take as “Allah Right By Me.”
So he went back to the mics Saturday and stated that when it comes to confronting the provocation presented by this mosque, he’d opt for cowardice.
“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there,” Obama insisted. “I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding.”

That's fine up until the jump in the water part.

The US has played many sides in the Middle East...it was inevitable that they would eventually jump the shark.
The Jihadist Ideology, based upon their religious beliefs cannot be laid solely at the feet of the US - add in Europe, Asia and most importantly their political leaders who preach hate the Jews - hate the West - Islam is the only true Religion from influential Religious Leaders.

It is their War against western beliefs and culture.

Blaming the US is simplistic at the least.

I'm not...I'm saying when you get into bed with Jihadists, it's probably best to stay in bed with those Jihadists. After all, the religion does not tolerate adultery...

Like it or not I do see a change in people. In North America, we are becoming less
tolerant of Muslims. The problem is we may understand that most Muslims are not
violent to the point where they are ready to wear bombs. But the nature of the present society is more aggressive. The other problem is there is no central figure to
control the masses, or direct them on a more peaceful path. Muslims seem to be
confused as to what is tradition and what is religious practise.
I am fed up with them myself in many but not all cases, and yet I find it difficult to
hate people I don't know, somehow that seem counter productive to me.
I hear things and the names some of the younger people call them and it is more
disturbing these days and far less tolerant. The other part of this is we usually
associate these tirades with the right wing. Even the citizen lefty is becoming
much less tolerant these days. Officially everyone is spouting unity but that is
starting to wear thin. The latest problem in Pakistan is evidence of less tolerance.
I have been told by many, they won't give a dime until that country rounds up the
Taliban terrorists and dumps the Muslim conservatism. Many hard working younger
relatives of mine say to hell with them their shooting at us we are going to feed them
don't think so. The biggest problem for our society is, many people perceive we are
at war with Afghanistan and the Muslim World, even though we are not.
God trying to make this clear is not that easy. I think things are going to get nasty
for those who follow Islam though, and it is not good for a society to go down this road.

It works for more than just television though, as an idiom. Any successful enterprise that takes a down turn has jumped the shark. Nuking the fridge is a good one too, poor Indie...
