well, it appears that the dimwit from south of the 49th has been taught. Not that he will have learned anything.

To add on to what Karrie and others have already stated, my family has had it's fair share of life threatening illnesses and at no time did any of us have to "wait" for treatment. This includes MRI's and nuclear xrays.

On the other hand, my wife knows a fair number of women living in the states that have lost their houses because of the extra cost of high risk pregnancy's and life threatening illnesses that their kids or spouses have had. Note that some of these people had insurance up the wazoo and were paying, in a few instances, in excess of $800 per month for premiums.

That's the funny part they've managed to skip past the American public.... you HAVE socialized health care. But, it still doesn't apply to all things, like chemotherapy, etc., from what I understand.

People are losing homes to pay for health care in the US....it's a crap system that puts profit before care. The system is riddled with examples with those saintly insurance compaines.

Oddly, some of the best care in the US is by the government run military hospitals.

Having said that I don't think Canadas sytem is perfect but better. My Mom was in the Hospital last month with conjestive heart failure, she recieved excellent care, had two cardioligists visist her and was out in 1 week.....cost......$0.

My son has been treated for Leukemia....cost...$0.

My brother had knee surgery....cost...$0.

I have two children....cost of birth for both....$0.

I had an MRI on my knee last year, waited two weeks....cost...$0.

If I were to change how we did health care I would move to the French system.

I know... it's frustrating when someone breezes in the door and explains to us all that we are a bunch of deluded idiots. But, let's prove that we're better, k? No need to sink to the same level of rudeness. After all, we're Canadian eh? ;)

and I'm one Canadian that isn't willing to promote the stereotype that Canadians are all super polite and willingly bend over and take it all the while saying thank you and sorry.

The only reason Canada and Europe can pay (barely, I might add) for their socialism is because America covers the cost of your security. You know, that U.S. military that you all love to rail against. Enjoy your freedom while we continue to provide it for you. You're welcome.

So, the essence I'm reading from your posts is, you think we're stupid and you take care of us. Well aren't you a treat?

Get over yourself Joffen, you're doing nothing here but contributing to the stereotype of the ugly American.

If you'd care to continue learning something about Canadian health care, feel free, otherwise I will simply consider this thread derailed and of no more use, thus worthy of closing.

If you want mommy to have your brand of special care, pay for it. If she won't go to the US, that's your problem and her problem, not ours.

The health care I get is good and timely.

I don't need your self-important crap.

You're flying a US flag and live in NY, so, you kind of said you were. Funny how that works. I know your mom's Canadian, thus you were likely born here, but I'm willing to bet you took citizenship, or will soon.

It doesn't really matter if he's an American or not when he comes into a Canadian forum spouting 'you people' generalizations about our state of delusion, etc. It's a moot point. He's quite clearly contributing to the impression that he's an American.

The fact of the matter is Canada's system will soon be bankrupt. You all know that train is coming. The Ontario government is already talking about cutting services in health care. Can you imagine what that will be like? You all know it will happen soon. The bulk of the baby boomers have not yet reached retirement age! Socialism never works. Never. You are deluded if you think Canada will be the one exception. Anyone who knows about the riots in Europe knows that they have glimpsed into Canada's future. Good luck with that, guys.
