We Americans become like the moribund Hapsburg Empire which was said to have forgotten nothing and learned nothing.
Watching 9/11 commemorations, which have by now become an annual religious-political event, reminds us of this old adage.
One of the biggest tragedies within the tragedy of 9/11 is that the nation has not learned the real lesson of 9/11 – the reason why the 19 suicide hijackers attacked New York and Washington.
Before this attack, the hijacker’s ringleaders made clear their goal was to punish the United States for occupying the holy land of Saudi Arabia and for supporting Israel’s repression of the Palestinians.

we might never know the whole or real truth of that day. But at least this article tries to be realistic in its assessment.
One thing is certain. The Politicians have blown the issue of terrorism right out of proportion , and played into the hands of OBL / terrorism..........and future terrorism. Bush cannot begin to comprehend what he had sown and what the repercussions will be for generations to come.
As the US pays, and pays via bloodshed, humanity, financially fighting an "ism".......that cannot be fought militarily........it is bleeding itself dry in all spheres. (financial, ethical,legal, moral , standards and all those other values that the US once held so dear -and lived by them.......for the most part. )
